I went to my doctor because i thought i had HPV. He thought that is what it was (wasnt sure...thought it could be shaving rash) but i pretty sure it was. they are not bad at all and he recommended i use an over the counter treatment. i got some liquid wart remover and it burned me and left purple marks were the treatment was applied. Almost looks like brusing. i took my doctors advice without reading the label and it was not to use on genital warts. are these burns or whatever they are permanent? i assume now he was recommending some sort of patch but he said if he froze them off i would look like a lepar (sp?) and he didnt think they were that bad. Did i just permanently scar myself or will this go away? if it will go away, when?

I did visit my doctor and he told me they werent that bad and to try and over the counter wart remover. I didnt even think to read the label. It literally looks like i took a purple marker to myself. Are you confident this is permanent and if so why? Have you had experiece with this or why would you just assume this?

brianr,
I work in dermatology and we deal with this kind of thing everyday. It is not likely that you will have permanent scarring. The skin takes up to a year to completely heal. If you do indeed have genital warts, no OTC product is appropriate. We generally do freeze these type of warts or give a Rx cream called Aldara. You should see a dermatologist for this problem. General practitioners don't know alot about treatments for this. We get lots of patients that originally saw their family doctor and ended up coming to us. The freezing is not that bad. However, if you have 15+ warts, it's not the best treatment. Aldara cream would probably be your best bet. Hope this helps. I wouldn't use the patch med that he's recommending either.

Yeah over the counter stuff is not good for genital warts (caused by HPV)! Over the counter treatment is for hand and feet warts, not genital warts.

First, let the burns heal. Try some aloe to help with that.

Second, go back to your doctor and ask for Aldara cream. This is specifically for genital warts. It is a prescription so you will need to get a prescription from him. I used Aldara when I had genital warts about 6 months ago and it worked great! Aldara cream is very acidic, so this can also burn you. It's important that you read the instructions. You are only suppose to use Aldara cream 3 times a week before you go to bed. If you use it anymore you can get 2nd and 3rd degree burns.

Also, Aldara can take a while to seem like it is working. It took a little over 3 weeks for my warts to completely disappear. So be patient!

That's really bad that they doctor recommended OTC medication. You shouldn't be using that for genital warts!

I hope this helped! Good luck to you!

Moles, warts, and skin tags are common skin lesions that develop naturally. While they are usually non dangerous, they can be embarrassing if found on an obvious part including the face. Skin lesions like moles and warts cause self-confidence issues to the sufferers. An individual with moles normally turns into a loner because they do not want to be noticed in public. They feel embarrassed to be out in public areas, therefore depression can normally follow but now you can modify all of this with this particular manual from here https://tr.im/EqNtM , Moles, Warts and Skin Tags Removal eBook.

i think you permanently scared yourself , your doctor should be treating you with acid , unless you didn't really go to him and just tried stuff on ur own? the only thing you should be using on it is acid by your doctor or a prescription he writes out for you
