I have 3 baby kittens ( 2 1/2 wks. old) that were abandoned at my house. They were doing great (well we had 4 but one died) until today when i noticed they weren't doing anything but urinating. They have become bloated and I am worried that if they keep eating and not defecating regularly, they will become sick or die.

Okay people i HAVE been stimulating elimination the whole entire time i have had the kittens. so that's not really telling me anything i didnt already know. we tried veg oil in their formula, dark caro syrup, metamucil, all like our vet said. the runt is the one who is actually defecating which is surprising, but the other two aren't.

I'm not trying to gross you out or anything but what you have to do is take a damp paper towel , hold the baby in 1 hand kind of so its on its back . And with the damp paper towel you use 1 finger inside the towel and rub its behind in a circular motion, kind of like massaging it. What the problem is , is that the mother hasn't had the chance to teach them how to poop and you now have to teach them. this should be done after each feeding , you might want to try it right away so that they can relieve themselves.

Take them to a vet! Kittens cannot pass stool on thier own at that age, so take a warm towel and rub gently on their bottoms. this is a very serious issue. I work at a humane society and kittens can die from not passing stool if not treated right away. If you can't provide care for them, give them to a good shelter or someone that can pay to treat them!

Besides the things mentioned so far , I always massaged their tummies( you can actually feel the stool in there when they are constipated) gently. Sometimes it can take a bit but keep trying everytime they feed...the warm water cotton ball or cloth on their bottoms. One of my kittens had an episode of constipation that worried me but the next day she finally went. Gl with your kitty :)

you can do one of two things, petsmart sells something in a tube that you stick on the cats fur and they lick it off getting the meds and going poo or you can take some vaseline and put a tiny bit, like a pinky size swipe full on their front legs so they can lick it and it will make them go poo... You could call a vet and just ask them for advice...and see if they suggest something different..

I put the vaseline on my cats for them to lick off, cause you know they just have to groom and get it off and it always worked..

good luck and I hope everything comes out ok...bad pun

Try taking a slightly damp washcloth and after feeding the kitties rub their tummies. This duplicates what the mom cat does after they nurse..be careful tho-ive been baptised in kittie pee doing this.

if you are hand feeding them or if it is your cats first time you should take a warm wet rag to their bottom to stimulate urination and deification after every time they eat . at 2 weeks they do not have control of their muscles .
