The only line I know for sure is from Martin Hildebrant Schmidt who came here with his wife, last name Hau? Schmidt became Smith after they were naturalized. My cousin did the whole family tree, and the Ohio clan still has a family reunion the first Sunday of August every year.

My name is Mueller, it was VonMueller when my family came here. I take it to mean "of" the muellers like we were servants or something like that. Dont know what the Mueller part is but I know that in Hamburg where we come from it is pronounced Miller and here it is pronunced muler.

Kinder and it means "child". Kind of like kindergarten, and in English, it's pronounced "ken-dur". A lot of people say it like "kiinder", with a long "i". But it's a short "i".
