He eats everything regularly like an adult..any meats, starches...but the only way I could get him to eat veggies was pureed...he spits out any vegetable that is whole in front of him... even hidden in mac and cheese...occassionally I can get frozen carrots the baby ones in him but normally he just won't eat them... The only sort of vegetable he eats is corn on the cob and loves it.
I guess I will just have to keep trying

Start with greenbeans. My son was the same way...so I started giving him greenbeans to eat on his own. He loved the idea that he could eat them all on his own. Then once you get that started, he'll be willing to eat anything.

I started my daughter off with boiled carrots. I get the frozen baby or sliced carrots and boil them til soft. Then chop them in pieces small enough for her (she has fewer teeth than most kids her age.) Also, I cook any other frozen veggies in the microwave (broccoli, cauliflower, green beans) and then grind them up in an electric mini-chopper. They're easy to eat, but not pureed. Hope this may help. Also you could try mixing peas and corn in with mashed potatoes or rice.

Try fresh vegetables if he has enough teeth most 16 mnths old should have their first year molars ...hopefully by now if so... try a dip- children love dip- if your worried about fat or a health nut - there are health check dips available in stores that are fine-ven though at that age 16 mnths- an extra bit of calories or fats wont harm him.

If it encourages him to eat his vegetables- the running around he does & exercise will burn off any bad fats plus he'll get his recommended daily veggies

Try sneaking them into fruit smoothies. The fruits cover up the taste of the veggies, but help make sure he is getting the veggies. I have heard that you should not worry about it too much. It might be a phase he will grow out of. If you turn it into a battle, you will end up losing the war. Of course, I don't have a 16 month old yet ;)

A child will eat vegetables more readily, if the parents eat them more frequently. My suggestion is to increase the presence of greens on your dinner table. Eating the vegetables will become the next cool adult thing to do.

I agree with the various suggestions of offering them as finger foods, possible choice peas, steamed asparagus, broccoli and carrots.

Chop them up real fine "baby bites" and try working them in with other bites. I've never seen a baby that would not eat mashed potatoes, also sometimes they will eat green beans if they can pick them up one at a time. Also flavor them some, nobody not even young children likes bland food.

Cut them into little pieces and add them to other foods-like mashed potatoes or rice for example. Or put some ketchup on the side for him to dip the veggies into. Toddlers LOVE ketchup but babies might not take to it for a while...Good Luck! :)

Present the food cut into bite sized pieces. Don't beg, plead, or spoon feed unless necessary. Don't give seconds of what he has eaten until he tries everything. If he is hungry he will eat. He is learning that he can control things in his environment and you are one of those things. It is a fun game to get mom to beg him to eat something. If you act uninterested in whether he eats it or not, game over. If he throws the food, clean it up and tell him "when you throw your food you are done" and mean it. He will learn that mealtime is for eating.

start with soft vegetable he can eat as finger foods. Gerber makes toddler veggies in a jar that are soft like carrots and grean beans.

At sixteen months old, I would not want pureed ANYTHING!! Hasn't your doctor advised table foods, yet? Have you tried semi-softened carrots? They're so sweet, naturally, and once softende, a sixteen month old should be able to chew, easily, with normal dentition. Good luck!

The first vegetable my sons would eat were peas. He liked to pick them up and eat them like finger food. At that age, everything is finger food, Give him diced-up vegetables about the size of peas.
