Hopefully this isn't a stupid question.
I live in Australia, while most of you are probably American. In many Australian state schools, wearing uniform is compulsory. It takes an emphasis off a sex life. There is still dating, but there might be less of it. Most of you probably kissed or had sex during high school. I know quite a few people (ie. A+ students) who have never had sex/kissed before. Obviously I'm a virgin too and see things differently.
I was surprised when I read in Yahoo! Personals articles that if you don't kiss during dating, your relationship won't progress. Is this American culture? I thought men were suppose to propose and get engaged first before kissing their fiancees. No kissing while dating.
My virginity means a lot. I don't want to kiss a girl before I know she truly loves/will marry me. What will people think if I just go for it?
I'm a Uni student, 21, Australian, male, virgin, never kissed a girl.
Is romance/dating different in America?

Be proud of yourself. In a world where every Tom, Dick (no pun intended) and Harry are non virgins even before you say 'sex', it's something you have to be proud of. There is nothing wrong with being a virgin and not sharing your kiss. Infact the whole experience with the one you truly love and the one who truly loves you would be really worthwhile, and more pleasure stimulating. Most of the people like to have sex or kiss and due to liberalization, that is what is happening. However, don't be ashamed of yourself. Keep your head up high and be proud of yourself. And remember you are not suffering from low self esteem. If you were, you would have gone out and have sex right now. Screw what the world thinks of you if they do think anything bad of you. I think that you are a really modest and a humble guy. Rock on.

Wish everyone here was like you....I'm a seventeen year old girl in america. I can tell you that here (speaking honestly) almost anyone would think it was weird if you didn't kiss them after dating for awhile. The majority of people where I live have kissed by the age of 12 and had sex by 14. Yes, before they are even old enough to drive a car. The majority of people I've heard of usually even have sex before getting married unless it is against their personal morals or religion....not saying I agree with that, just saying that's how it is here. If you don't want to I would say that is your personal choice....however you may reconsider not kissing someone...I personally can't imagine getting engaged to someone I'd never kissed before......I do understand the sex thing though. I personally have had sex with two people, neither of who I am with now...one I was married to. All before I'm even 18. Australia sounds pretty good to me right now. :)

OMG! For the LOVE of GOD. If you know this guy is obviously a pick-up artist than why even bother to be "weak" and let him get what he wants. "SEX" that's all this dude wants trust me I am a guy and that is what all I would be thinking too. Especially if I was a pick-up artist. That title explains alot that this guy has slept with a whole ton of woman and your his next trophy he wants. Once this guy "bangs" you he will probably most likely say "good bye hope it was fun it sure was for me" he go brag to his buddies that you were easy and go find another girl possibly another virgin to steal her virginity away from the man she will soon love in the future and it will go on and on and on. Meanwhile you could possibly be stuck with a baby and no support what so ever. Find a guy first date him for a few months or a year and get to know someone before you lose your virginity and give it up to the man who ACTUALLY loves you.

i'm a virgin, wow i wanta come to australia, guys seems sweeter there, yeah i've kissed guys, america must be different i thought it was the same everywhere... i guess not. americans must be fast or something. i kiss my boyfriends {when i have one, i'm single right now so i dont' kiss anyone at the moment} i have a lot of friends whom aren't virgins and i don't see the point in having sex at this age without marriage. i would rather be married that way i know it's real. i want it to be special

i am a virgin. never kissed. (i mean i kissed boys in preschool but those dont count)
but you kinow what- im 14. my answer probbaly doesnt really count.
at my high school all of the freshmen, most of the sophomores and juniors are virgins. i think. seniors... well they are kind of..... u know.
but you're saying americans as in ALL AMERICANS but actually there are many people who are pro-abstinence in america too. (do you know the pink wristbands that say True Love Waits? It's a pro-abstinence foundation) its just that the majority of the population is the way described in Yahoo! personals.

i am 25, female. still virgin and never kissed by any boy. actually i can not allow any one untill i get marry. i want to give this joy/honor only to my ONE. love doesnt mean you should must kiss and do sex. take out this stuff from your relation, i assure you, u ll enjoy your relation more then anything, the trust between you two will be unbreakable and your love will be like forever.
i wish you (the australian guy) all the best. i wish you are able to maintain your virginity till you get your right match.

I never dated or kissed in high school (I was close to an A student). Once I was in college, I started kissing my partner (after we were dating for about two weeks) and I am saving my sex until marriage.
Kissing pre-marriage? Go for it. Sex before marriage? There's sometimes consequences. (Are you ready to be a dad?)
