but I can't confront her directly because we live too far apart, and I don't want to bring up something this serious online, and if by some chance I am wrong, I don't want to falsely accuse her. This is killing me; how do I go about this?

You only "suspect" that your friend is/was lying. Try asking an indirect question before going the actual discussion.

this is a dilema i have about a friend of mine, in my case there's a guy involved. however, i don't know what is she lying about but i suspect we're talking about a guy, too. don't confront her because as u said u could be wrong and then u have another problem. but usually when we have the feeling someone is being disshonest we're usually right. u didn't give much details so,i can't really tell u what to do but to keep ur eyes open about her behaviour, because when they lie, most people are nervous and they act differently. and also conduct a little investigation on ur own upon the situation and try to talk with her friends to find out more. anyway, good luck to u!

tell your friend that you feel like there has been some fishy stuff going on and you are not accusing her of anything but you would like to clear the air and maybe online is the only way but you have to

if she's a real friend then she wont be doing things like that...you should talk to her about that personally not on the phone or not online so you can straighten things out...=)
