that is not an easy one. it is not easy to get through without taking medication. if it gets to bad or feels like it is getting out of your control, please take your medication! Well, for starters, get a full 8 hours of sleep. If you are short on sleep right now, you may need a bit more in the begining. If you are sleeping to much ween yourself off of that sleep cylce. Getting the right amout of sleep for our bodies plays a big role in how well it functions, including those happy chemicals. Doing this while setting a pattern like going to sleep at the same time and doing things at about the same time during the day will reduce the stress on your body, again helping with the depression.

I know you probably may not feel like excersing on a regular basis while depressed, but it helps a ton! it really does. There is also another reason for developing a pattern.

if you do not have an emotional support, talk to a friend or family member that you really truly trust. Let them know that they can talk to you also. This will give you a balance of possibly helping someone else out and getting help yourself.

if none of these work, or any of the other suggestions......please take your medicine!

If it is truly clinical depression, then prescription medication is the best option. That being said, however, I was "diagnosed" as being clinically depressed several years ago because I was in pain constantly, only to find that although I was taking Paxil for my depression, it was being in actual, physical pain from gallstones that were the culprit. I had my gallbladder removed and stopped taking my meds and have felt fine since them.

A friend of mine took St. Johns Wort and that helped with depression (but not covered under insurance because it is homepathic)

One of the things that actually works is travel. In Russia, one of the major things that doctors prescribe to their patients suffering with clinical depression are vacations to warmer climates, even if you come from a warm climate, just a change of scenery will cause a cascade of physical reactions within your body that will at least temporarily counteract the buildup of neurochemicals that lead to depression. Of course it gets expensive, but one of my best friends suffers from clinical depression, and well...being Russian, he tends to spend a lot of time traveling, even if it's just taking a train somewhere close enough to be cheap, but far enough to trigger all of the instincts that kick in when you're in a "new" environment and don't have the time to go kicking out the neurotransmitters are are probably being spewed all over your brain becuase your current environment is triggering stresses that you didn't know were there.

Of course, this isn't a surefire cure, or even something that's documented to work outside of native Russian populations (to my knowledge) but it's definitely something to look into.

Maybe if you try believing in yourself more, trust yourself, and also admitting to yourself that you can come over this problem. Clinical depression comes from within, its mind over matter situation and what's happened is that you have let your mind take over your matter. Depression just comes and if you let it will become clinical. Doctor's are quick to prescribe anti depressants and Valium as a quick way of getting patients out of their lives for a long time. Phychologists want to find the route of the problem by going back to childhood, whereas phychiatrists just want to give you a prescription for your condition, so again they are rid of you to. What you have to do is like i said, believe in yourself, belive that you are able to do whatever you want. Its your mind and body that only you can control. Pills will take away the stress of depression but for how long, till you feel the panick coming on again, or untill you need to increase you dose? If you continue the pills, your doseages will increase in time which will leave you feeling like a constant zombie. Try to be strong, and start by cutting the pills in half or quarters. Give yourself plenty of time, don't rush. Reward yourself for each time you have taken less and show yourself that you can be strong. Believe me this will help. It's all in your mind and only you can help you.
Best of luck, i really hope you gain strentgh from within, and hope you will be drug free again one day.

Get to the root of what's causing the depression. Facing it may be much more painful, but you will find that everytime you talk about it, you get a little of that poison out of you and you feel a weight lifted off of you.

Also, eat healthy and get a good amount of sleep every day and exercise outside in the fresh air.

Be around pets. Find a hobby. Volunteer. Join a support group.

love and happiness is a great place to start

Seriously though, clinical hypnosis with NLP has helped many people I know out of this for good. Its great have love and support in your life to heal yourself a lot quicker. You are not alone inthis.

True change comes from within, you have everything you need to make this happen and deep down you probably know this. Trust in yourself and beleive in yourself.

Good luck, you ar stronger than you think!

p.s. tablets just artificially change your neurochemical balance without soving the issue that is casuing this. Deal with the issue and you'll find peace in your life.

Get up early in the morning, wash your face and go and walk an hour or more to get that first coffee at your favorite coffee shop. Exercise and a motivator to exercise first thing in the morning is the best thing to get your adrenaline moving and have a good day.

Try this for one morning. Ask yourself if you have a much better day than usual. If so...then you know it works. If you don't have time for that in the mornings think about changing your work schedule to work afternoons or evenings.

ive just been diagnosed this ,i was given 2 weeks of tablets .i didnt want to take ,but they do work.my doc gave me these and put me forward for therapy. i think you should try them at least ,because depression could be a chemical imbalance in the brain ,i dont think there is anything but tablets that can help .side effects for the first few weeks are bad ,but im getting used to them now .i did worry about the stigma attached to taking pills ,but i was surprised how many people take them .its a common thing .good luck

Have you tried any talking therapies? There are some organisations that you can go to for information about getting someone to talk to for free, if you live in a city, there should be many places that are out there. There are also some herbal remedies that you can take that aren't as much as prescription meds, but I would talk to your doc...
