Bring him back a bottle of scotch and a bottle of amaretto. Equal parts of both makes a GodFather. Most that like scotch and whisky love Godfathers. If the scotch isn't the best...the amaretto will cover it up. Anyway..it's a smooth blend!

Woodford Reserve if you want quality at a good price. Jack daniels is advertising look how much the proof / quality of Jack has gone down in the past 5 years !!! P.s for all the other people who drink based on advertising did you know that it only takes 6 hrs for jose cuervo to go from agave to the bottle? That "barrel color" is added carmel coloring!!!

Best bring him what he likes.

There are some very nice single malts around that are very expensive.... but if he does not like that kind of whisky you missed the point of a good gift.

If he does like malt may I suggest Islay

Maker's Mark is by far my favorite, next is Knob Creek, on the rocks that is. If your dad is going to be using a mixer you can definitely go down in the quality dept. Makers is kinda sweet and smoky and 90 proof whereas Knob Creek is more subtle and bitter. Both are very good Kentucky whiskeys. my choice MAKER'S MARK!

Three easy winners:

US: Jack Daniel's Single Barrel
Scotch: The Glenlivet, any variety will do unless finicky
Canadian: Crown Royal - always a welcome gift, anywhere people lift a glass.

Now it's just a question of preference.

Assuming he likes whisk(e)y and has had it before, I'd suggest Black Bottle if he likes blended whisky, Glenmorangie if he likes malts, and if he's not bothered whether it's Scotch whisky or not, Bushmills (Irish whiskey).

depends on if he likes american blended whiskey, canadian whiskey or scotch whiskey. all have a different flavor, if you ever drank jack daniels, it is much more sour than say, crown royal. And people who drink scotch whiskey don't have taste buds for anything but scotch. I'd ask before spending big cash and not getting him what he might like
