Thats unfair question.

I hope my dog and me both will join together to save that stranger.

But I dont have pets. Too much responsibility and question like this make sure I do not have a dog in the first place.

And I can not swim either.

OMG ! I am more likely to be that human who will need saving. Thats scary.

I am glad that so many people decided to save the human first.
Except those who want to save me so that they can convert me. Creepy. Go save the dog.

I would say the stranger drowning. Even though I would miss the dog. Not knowing that if the stranger was saved or not and if not hoping he or she would see the blessing of the Lord and have time to get saved.

The stranger. I love animals, and it would hurt... but I value human life much more... and the only rational explanation for that I can think of is that it is a result of evolution and of my genes.

I do have to agree with those above me in a way... if it were much safer for me and easier to save the dog, I would do that... But again, that is influenced somewhat by evolution and genes, as it would be a danger to my survival to save the human at that point.

The stranger of course.....dogs can swim. But, I would still pick the stranger over the dog if he couldn't because man does come before dog.

I love pets but the person is worth more so I would help save the person first and go back for the dog if I could.

Hmm... a drowning dog.. I think most dogs, and other animals can help themselves when they fall in the water. Humans usually too.. It's the urge we have to survive.. So, I guess I'd save the one who is most in need.. I think it's a unfair question though... LIFE should be saved, in whatever form... our nature probably tells us to save the human... but I certainly do not agree with all the above who say "human life above animal life"... it's all LIFE.. we, like all other living creatures on earth, are just carriers of LIFE

I'll save the stranger. Because:
The void created by the death of that person cannot be filled but the void created by the death of my dog can be filled by getting another Dog.
I'll get over the grief of losing my Dog soon, but the family of that stanger will be aggrieved forever.
