I'm very sure that if the man was known ... that he received the same punishment ...

And i think that you mentioned only the woman to make Islam looks like favoring men over women ...

And i assure you as a Muslim Girl that Islam is the first religion on earth that treated women respectfully ...

And about Adultery crime:
==================
1. i don't think that having sex with no marriage no commitment and responsibilities is even better than animals having sex ... they are the only creatures that get it with no marriage or commitment ...

2. letting people commit Adultery with no punishment leads to what USA suffers today ... so much children with no parents in foster homes ... no future ... possible threat to society ...

3. Adultery threats stable marriages ... makes men looking forward to having sex outside marriage ... but if he knows that he will get killed for that .. i think he will think twice and he will feel that he has enough and he will not try to do so ...

4. punishing someone who commits Adultery with prison ... doesn't help solving the problem ... or makes others stop doing it ...

5. Death penalty for Adultery sinners have been used even before Islam ... remember when Jesus said "this who has no sin throw her with a stone" ... it's not an Islamic invention ...

Just today I have read quite a number of people who had first hand experience about Islam and what has been revealed so far is that Islam is a religion that does not treat people fairly. Some are apostates(ex muslims), some are Baha'is, some have been to Islamic countries and have observed the actual trend. I am inclined to believe that Islam per se could be a peaceful religion if practiced by people who have higher educational achievements or experience. I can see that what actually make Islam a dreadful religion is not the religion itself but those who use it to control people. The worse thing that could happen is when a leader himself takes the teachings literally and uses it to maintain his position for a lifetime. This position can be powerful enough to create totalitarianism in the guise of following Allah's words because Islam is submission. Nobody will dare ask or contest any orders from the higher ups because whether you like it or not you have to submit or you'll be cast out and may cost your life. When a leader declares holy war or fatwa, educated muslims especially those who were exposed in the west don't usually rush to start the movement because most of them are well educated and would really consider exhausting peaceful ways. These are the Muslims who we would usually see as peacful, friendly and tolerant but those who usually respond to such call are those who belong to the lower class members of Islam most of whom maybe have not even seen school. And these muslims are the ones creating a bad image for islam to the expense and detriment of those who really advocate peace. And there are Millions of them, that's why their horrible and barbaric acts are very visible through out the world especially with the advancement in the information technology.

Hi Pumpkin-

Please understand that Islam is a peaceful religion that has sometimes been distorted by extremists or used as an excuse by militants who have no understanding of its true meanings.

My husband is from Iran, but we are Baha'i. The extremist regime that took over the country as a result of the revolution in the late 70s is not representative of the society or the religion as a whole.

I hope this answered your questions.

Best wishes.

I'm an Iraninan and i've lived 15 years of my life there. what i have seen, tells me that the real Islam is not bein practiced in Iran (and some other Islamic countries) - the government is using religion to control the poeple and they've chosen Islam, becuz most of the poeple are muslim. if they were somehing else, they would have chosed another religion!
These Mullahs execute people for havin different opinion or religion, to show the "power of Islam (read fake Islam)" and all that!
anyway, Iran has a different story, do not think what they're doin is what Islam has told them to do!

p.s. I'm not muslim. but i've studied with muslims and all their subjects. of course, nobody had to know that i'm not muslim, for my own protection!

adultery is a sin, she should not have committed a sin, I agree that death is a harsh punishment, but you have to accept that what is NOT acceptable in our culture is acceptable there and everyone knows the consequences of their actions so should know better than to do this. I know nothing about Islam so cannot comment on what sort of religion it is, but keep in mind that in biblical times adultery was punishable by death as well, and if this was an acceptable practise in our culture then I am sure that Christians would still carry out this harsh punishment as instructed by their religious book.

I will say what I think, but I'm really no expert, and if I offend anyone out of my ignorance, I am truly sorry.
I think maybe it has to do with intolerance for anything outside of what they have been taught. This is an extreme case, but we see this all around us in today's society, to a lesser degree. If I were to decide one day that I wanted to go about my daily activities naked, I would get in trouble with the law because we have been taught that nudity is unacceptable and offensive. I believe it is the same case.
As for the other answer given before me, by bad jesus... before you say something is trash, why don't you go and research what you are insulting rather than sounding like an ignorant fool?

Religions, taking the name of God, are misguiding the whole world. Every religion has its share in doing it and Islam got some cruelty added to it. Others will not tolerate it as human rights associations are active in other countries.

In my view, if a man and a woman are united willingly no one has the right to punish them.

So you must agree with Prostitution, pregnancies in teenage, abortions, child abuse, and all this kind of problems America suffers. You should check what George Carling said( he is an American stand up comedian) " if we will have executions on national TV people will think twice about doing something wrong" One women comiting adultery will make more do the same and until the society ends up rotten like ours. If you do something wrong you MUST be punish. and one bad apple will make more apples bad. ........think about it. ..... what would happend if we wolud do the same here????

From what I understand, Islam isn't as bad as people think it is. The religion itself teaches peace and tolerance, but Arabic culture deforms the religion to a xenophobic, radical hate group.

Islam itself isn't as horrible as people believe, but many of the empowered bigots who warped and deformed it are.
