No one should follow the teachings of the Bible as law, honestly.
People made their mistakes when they took this two-thousand year old book as the word of God. It's NOT. It is the word of the men who wrote it, and we have no evidence that verifies any of the Bible's writings (except for a few select facts on the existence of Jesus Christ).
In the Bible, God is described as "merciful and benevolent", but all his deeds are wicked, malevolent, murderous and intolerant. If the Biblical God is the one that exists as defined by this petty tome, there is no reason I can think of to worship him.

Have any of you read the bible? Have you ever researched how it was put together?
It isn't just one big book, it's a collection of books. The old testament is the story of the Jews here on earth since the beginning of time. The new testament Gospels were written shortly after the death of Jesus and verified by people who knew Jesus. Other books were written by disciples themselves and others who were affected by God and respected among the early christians (again, people who walked with Jesus). To say that God is hateful tells me that you don't know Him. Don't just take the stuff that the world gives you and spew it out as if it is true. I have read the entire book and have seen the same love in the old testament as in the new. I have never seen a contradiction. Many really smart guys have gone out and tried to disprove the bible through logic and have failed. Not only failed, but ended up converting.
Can I suggest to you a book called Case For Christ? It is a book that answers the tough questions of christianity that many have asked. Questions that I bet you have.
Also, to say you have faith, but question the integrity of the bible through your intelligence worries me. You have the same disease as I do. It's called pride.
God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise. There may be things in there that don't make sense, or that may seem wierd. I think God wants it that way.
Keep seeking, my friend. Check out that book and look around for an explanation for those "contradictions" that you see. You may just need a little clarification. I did, too.

So, your intelligence doesn't agree with most of the Bible. Does your intelligence agree or disagree with most of US laws, or your state's laws. And if your intelligence doesn't agree with some law, does that make your transgression of that law any less illegal.
I'm glad to hear you find common sense in Jesus.
God is not an angry Dad, but rather a stern Father. And God is not a mass murderer. What has entered the human realm as death is because man made the choice to disobey God, and God is a holy God. He cannot tolerate sin of any kind. And any man who does not wash his sins away through his belief that Jesus died for us chooses to not enter into heaven. Satan, the one who deceived in the Garden is the mass murderer.
And the ones who close their eyes to the Truth, saying the Bible is just a bunch of stories, not to be taken literally are the chaff in life, blowing hither and tither by any breeze, not standing firm and walking determinedly the path of lilfe that will lead to eternal salvation.

It's a collection of stories. Perhaps the most influential stories ever, but stories all the same, and should be taken in that light. The way the Jews viewed God, and the way that vision evolved over the centuries is reflected in the characteristics he's given throughout the old and new testaments.

there is no contradiction in the Bible if you understand it properly My friend read and understand it... Jesus and God have the same Character - John 14:9-10. if your'e using the Old Testament as reference in getting the conclusion that God is angry, you just don't doesn't understand why God did those things everything he did was out of Love and Justice. but before punishing them, God gives time for people to repent. If u have questions.. email me. Lash_bleed@yahoo.com . what contradictions have you seen on it and what are those thing you where saying that doesn't make sense. i'm glad to answer my friend...

When will religious leaders have the intellectual and moral honesty to admit this book is not the word of God or anything like it..they are protecting their careers I guess and it's pitiful...considering the harm that is done to people..physically, mentally and spiritually because of the way it is interpreted and the way perfectly good and honest people are taken in by it!
