The whole process wasn't as scary and painful as I thought it would be. One person told me they bled a lot when they got them off but I think it was because he didn't get into the habit of flossing. It's when they clean your teeth afterwards with that scraping thing, and it probably is going to cause some bleeding, but not a lot if you've been taking care of your teeth. If you haven't already, you might want to get into a habit of flossing for at least two weeks or so before getting them off so that it won't bleed or hurt that much when they actually do.
For the most part, getting the brackets popped off doesn't hurt at all, but I think it depends on the tooth (at least that was the way it was for me). The only ones that hurt for me were the few bottom ones because those teeth are sensitive for me. It was about two teeth, and it caused them to become a little loose--don't worry if that happens because it'll become stiff again in about 2 weeks, but make sure to leave it alone. When I say sensitive teeth, I mean the few that hurt when they put on or take out the rubber bands. The kind of pain I got when they did that was similar to the feeling of pain when getting it pulled off.
It's all worth it in the end when you get out of the chair and look at your nice teeth in the mirror. And make sure to wear your retainers! ;) You don't want to have gone through all that suffering for nothing.

No, it doesn't hurt to have the brackets taken off. It may be a little uncomfortable when they take off the bands around your molars, but it isn't pain. It's kind of a dull ache that lasts for about 2 seconds. I would say it's discomfort from the pressure. Additionally, they will most likely use a solvent for the adhesive that holds the brackets/bands to your teeth. It loosens the "glue" so the brackets and bands come off easier.
Don't worry too much about pain. When I had mine off, there was no actual pain. Like i said, all I felt was a little discomfort when they took the bands off my molars. Again, it was more of a pressure that was just uncomfortable.
Also, there's a really cool sensation afterwards. Without the wire and the brackets, you'll get a nifty feeling of "relief." Basically, your teeth aren't being held together with a wire anymore, so they get to relax a little. It takes a few minutes, but evenutally, you get this really cool little tingle when your teeth finally relax and settle into their still-slightly-dilated sockets.
Getting your braces off is an awesome feeling in many different ways.

It doesnt hurt a bit to have your braces taken off. They just pop right off and your teeth will be nice and smooth.
PS
Make sure to wear your retainer every day. If you don't your teeth start to move back to where they were before the braces and your retainer wont fit right anymore. Now that hurts.

It is abit painful because of the strength the dentist exert to pull out the brackets. But it is worth all the pain once you see yourself pretty once again after you had the braces removed.

It hurts a lot!!!!
You might want to ask your Dr. to please be very careful. When I had mine taken off, the orthodontist chipped my front tooth in a very obvious way and then told me that it wasn't a big deal and then proceeded to file it down with a power tool. I was very upset but too young to know what to do or how to handle it. I would recommend bringing a witness with a camera to your appointment.

No, it was a relief. I think my teeth ached for a while, because the dentist has to move your teeth slightly to get at the tooth next to it, but mostly it felt great to have them off!!!

From what I remember, the pain is less than having had them tightened. The added benefit is that you know that you are rid of them.

It's not that bad really, just annoying having someone fiddling about with your teeth. No big deal.
