they believe that an alien named Xenu's planet was over-populated, so he sent aliens to earth on crafts that looked like DC-8's. He then administered knock out gas, placed the bodies around volcanoes, and blew up the volcanoes with H-bombs. The aliens died, and xenu brainwashed the souls with some sort of movie. The souls now attatch themselves to people, causing negative qualities. These spirits are detected with a machine called an e meter. the only way to rid yourself of these spirits is to pay the church. Only the top level of scientologists can know the story i just told you, so sorry i ruined it for them if they've read it!

SERIOUSLY, NOT JOKING!

The creator of this religion was a sci-fi writer who said the best way to make money is through a religion!

I AM NOT JOKING.
This is what scientologists actually believe in.

It certainly is not a Christian religion as they do not use the Holy Bible as part of their teachings, although they will try to cloud this by saying they are non-denominational. th ereligion was founded by Ron L Hubbard a writer or pulp Science Fiction novels and self help books. Scientology mixes these two together. It is frequently perceived as a cult or a pseudo-religion. Their promotional film at their centers use classic mind control and hypnotic suggestion techniques to persuade you to join them.

Their beliefs encompss the following:
A person is an immortal spiritual being (termed a thetan) who possesses a mind and a body.
* Through the Scientology process of "auditing", one can free oneself of "engrams" and "implants" to reach the state of "Clear", and after that, the state of "Operating Thetan". Each state is said to represent recovering the native spiritual abilities of the individual, and to confer dramatic mental and physical benefits.
* The thetan has lived through many past lives and will continue to live beyond the death of the body.
* A person is basically good, but becomes "aberrated" by moments of pain and unconsciousness in his or her life.
* What is true for you is what you have observed yourself. No beliefs should be forced as "true" on anyone. Thus, the tenets of Scientology are expected to be tested and seen to either be true or not by Scientology practitioners.
* Psychiatry and psychology are evil and abusive.
* Humans retain many emotional problems caused by early stages of evolution (see Scientology History of Man).

The name is L. Ron Hubbard. A second rate author from the '50s who rehashed a discounted psych theory in what think became ANALOG SF magazine. I looked it up a long time ago and read it and it was something about memory engrams being the cause of all the unhappiness in the world and, since it didn't catch on in the science world, he sold on the far fringe of the 'soft' sciences. The far, far fringe. That's when it showed signs of being profitable and he tossed the pseudo-science tag and turned it into a religion. One of the main deals is the use of a cheap (except when they sell them) gadget that really doesn't do except maybe measure an aspect of the bodies electricity. I suggest looking it up but if you are considering joining, get ready to break your piggy bank.

It sure is a religion and a damn fine one at that. As a Scientologist and a gay teenager I have been welcomed with open arms. Not only this, the tech of Scientology has helped me become a better person, I have vastly improved comnmunications and study skills due to the courses I have taken at my local org.

Your statement in false in that you are ignoring the rebirth at the point that a true believer in Jesus Christ is saved from his sins and born again.

You need to remember that God knows the very intents of the heart before you say or do anything. And based on our true intent we are judged as a sinner.

Please examine your motives for you postings on this site. If they are evil, God is making a record of every thing that you think, say and do.

You will answer for all on the day of Judgment. And will spend eternity in Heaven or Hell based on your relationship with Jesus Christ.

I pray that you ask Christ to forgive and save you today.

I'm not entirely sure. All I know is their leader is L. Ron Hubbard. My understanding is that you have to pay a certain amount of money to receive their teachings. For this reason, I have never looked into them seriously. But I'm sure if you Google or Yahoo it you can find some information.

Best wishes.

it depends on what you consider to be a religion.

for me, any organization that "sells" its tenants, is a cult. if they ask you for money to learn their "secrets" or to learn what its about, they're a cult.

scientology is more of a philosophy of life, how to live it. but its based on what i consider to be a crazy story about an alien war where a bunch of aliens got sentenced to earth, were killed, and how inhibit human beings.
