If the burn is superficial (not a deep or full thickness burn), it is always good to keep the injured area clean. Yes, aloe vera cream does help, and actually helps speed the healing process. If a blister forms from injured area***keep blister intact***. The blister will eventually absorb back into the body. Popping or ridding the blister might cause scarring and prolong healing. Not to mention expose injured area to infection/bacteria if blister is popped. DO NOT put any kind of oils, etc, on burn. Because for one thing...oils may trap heat, etc, and cause you further suffering. allow air to pass, inwhich keeping injured area dry will also speed the healing process. Keeping such wound areas moist, will not only prolong healing, but may even contribute to injured area to re-open.

Medical treatment. If it looks nasty it probably is. If it develops into an ulcer it can have a permanent effect on the leg. If it develops into poison you could loose the leg and if it develops into blood poisoning you could loose your life! Go see the Doctor.
By the way the advice on burns is never, never, never, never, ever put anything on them!!!!!!!
Immediately after a burn cold water run over it will reduce some of the effects. Put a clean dry loose cover over it. Not a bandage or anything that really covers it close as the air needs to get to it. Then seek immediate medical attention.
I would stress again never put anything on a burn - it always makes them worse and has the potential to promote all the nasty things mentioned above.

If it is already infected I would go see a DR.
I have Extra Large Aloe plants just for that. That is the best 100% pure Aloe Vera.
( adding this in) If you use a aloe plant, cut the sides thingys off then use a very sharp ula blade or knife fillet the top green part off and then use the knife to go under the jelly part. Take the whole piece and lay it on the wound. Best use right after you get burned but anytime is good for anything.)
You can buy a plant at Wal-Mart They grow best in a window that has the morning sun. I wish you lived near buy I would bring you one. To keep it from scaring later using Vit E also helps heal. Hope he gets better.
David M your wrong because I been doing this for years and it always works.

If depends a lot on the extent of the burn. If its not pierced the skin or scolded than pouring water on it for a minimum of 10 mins will help if its only slightly red and sore. Alternatively holding an cold pack on it will also help.
However DONT do this if it has pierced the skin or is more serious than just a bit of reddening. If you did it some time ago and its gone a funny colour, is weeping orthere is pus or just doesn't look right you really need to see a doctor because it's got infected and you need some anti biotics to get rid of it, theres not a lot you'd be able to do.

Streaming cold water for at least 10 minutes. After it has cooled and depending on the severety of the burn use a good burn ointment or go to a doctor.

Should have put cold water on it from the very beginning. Now it sounds like it is too late. The best treatment is to see a doctor now.
