Depends on the mood/situation or whatever you are feeling "in the moment"! Obviously there are times when hard and fast are where it's at, but then depending on the two individuals slow and steady could win the race, so to speak. All in all, it really comes down to what the two of you are into at the moment...no one plans hot sex. Just do what feels good!
