You must realize that Bhajan (devotional singing), Namasmarana (chanting God's name) and Puja (ritualistic worship) are not for pleasing or propitiating God, but for our own spiritual progress. Frequently people flatter the rich and the powerful - especially when they are in their employment or are beholden to them for some precious help - in order to induce them to shower gifts on them. But God does not shower grace on people because they sing His praises. Nor does He come down upon them because they do not deify Him. Contemplating on the Divine attributes enables us to dwell on elevating ideals and brings us nearer to the Divinity that is our nature.

God is not an ego maniac, he simply deserves it. Besides if we don't praise God, we run the risk of praising Man, and we all know how dangerous to the ego THAT could be!
I also heard it said that "The bigger your God, the smaller your problems" so if you perceive God as enormous and huge in your life, you are not likely to see everyday life issues as insurmountable, but hopeful because the God you serve in in control! So, praising Him is in YOUR best interest!

ISA 42:8 "I am the LORD; that is my name!
I will not give my glory to another
or my praise to idols.
It is right and proper to give glory to God, simply because he is God. There is no other being who comes remotely close to God as meriting our praise. God knows this, wants our praise and delights in it. This is not egocentricity but what is God's by virtue of who he is. We do not hesitate about giving Mozart praise for his music, in fact the music is his praise. Why should God's own creation not give him the praise due?
God also knows that when we centre on him we are working according to our design specification and so will be better able to live a full life.

For the same reason I praise my parents. It is good for me to remember and honor those who have provided me with benefits. If my God were an ego maniac and did not treat me with patience and love I doubt I would have survived childhood. The praise of my children and grandchildren a sign that they are learning to love and be loved. This is good for them and I appreciate their willingness to grow in knowledge and faith.

We praise God because we stand in awe of Him, not because He needs us at all. He created us because He loves us. You look at the grand canyon and say "Wow thats amazing" the same is true with God, and how much more deserving of praise is the One who created the grand canyon and all the stars in the galaxy. I praise God because I cant do it by myself, Not that He needs me but that I need Him more than anything on this earth.

We praise God because He is worthy of our praise.
He is our Creator, and yet we have drifted far from Him.
Yet, in His boundless mercy and grace, He sacrificed His only Son, the Lord Jesus Christ, so that we may be reconciled to Him.
Should we not praise our all-loving God?
If we can understand God's love for us, we will be compelled to praise Him.
He does not need our praises.

God does not need our praise; we need to praise Him. It teaches us gratitude, respect and humility and tames our ego. We pray not because God needs our prayers, but because we do.
