okay this question is going to make it seem as if I haven't gotten past third grade, but I really don't understand.

How is the earth laid out? You're driving along a road and you see the earth spread out in front of you. The earth is round so you know that at some point it curves up ahead. But what about the rest of the earth? Is there another road underneath you? Is the road you're on a line connecting two sides of the earth? Or is the road you're on the inside circumference of the earth? Because we can't be on the outer side of the earth right, because there's no oxygen? I feel so stupid. Someone help!

Edit:

I'm not asking why we can't see the curve.

The earth is a sphere and humans are too small to notice the curve of the earth when standing upon it. We're on the outside and atmosphere keeps the oxygen in.

well im no geologist but i think your asking why dont see the curve in the earth.

well the asnwer is cuz its soooo big that our eye cant see that far. but if you look at the ocean you know you cant see japan or europe. its because the world curves and theres that line in the horizon.

Maybe. It is what our eyes reflect to us.
If we were 5mm tall. I bet we see the world very differently.
