Dont smother him. if you love him show him that you can give him space, that you are not going to consume all of his time. be trustworthy. remember you love him... if you love him you will want him to be happy first off.
just because you love him doesnt mean he will love you. but chances are if you really love him, like i said, you arent trying to change him, i.e. getting him to spend more time with you and ditch his friends. if you really want to spend the rest of your life with him, you have to love him for him and not try to change him..
basically love him for who he is, if you dont like who he is he aint the one for you, bottem line be trustworthy and dont try to change him. if you have to change him he aint the one for you!!! and if he aint the one be patient, you'll find him
