Well All I know is that the Philly chees steak is often imitated but...never duplicated. Man! Let me tell you...at Pats you get the real deal and its so good you go get another one and wonder why you didn't get 2 the first time. Pats is the original and its in Philly. Im from the mid Atlantic region and New England but when I cruise up or down the east coast I hook up with Pats steak house. Not always though, but I know where to go when I want to eat them bad boys. At Pats they give in, give out and give all to making those cheese steaks.
Make ya wanna drool! Boom Boom!

I just moved to Wyoming from Bucks County and I was shocked to find an authentic cheese steak in the mall in Casper. The guy actually gets his rolls from Amoroso. It's not Genos, but it's good. I live a couple of hours from casper so I make my own. I found a butcher who will slice the ribeye very thin for me and I buy rolls at Safeway. I know what you mean about nasty out of town cheesesteaks, they look like steakums. Who eats this crap. Philly needs to trademark steaks and anyone who wants to make one has to meet the criteria.

Because they want to re-create the taste they found in Philly. Why do people make Chicago-style pizza? Why do we make pizza?
Why don't you think it through. And just because you like it a certain way, doesn't mean others can't change it to their own taste. Last time I checked, you aren't the person that determines what everyone likes.

Because people like philly cheesesteaks.
Why do we have chinese and mexican restaurants in America?
That's a really stupid question.
People from different areas like different things.
I've never heard of a philly cheesesteak with gravy, where did you see that, in the south? They eat gravy on everything.

I am from Philly, Harrowgate. It's all in the water.
Even in Philly, if the sign says "Philly Cheesesteaks" , then it is crap

Yeah, and border style enchiladas aren't supposed to have shrimp in them either, but like the creatively modified PCstks, they are just so darn good!
