Okay so besides prevention, which is key, once you have like seven massive mosquito bites on you, what are different ways of getting rid of the itchiness? I've tried the most obvious drug-store lotions, but anyone know of some family traditions or something?

Do you know of the plant called Aloe Vera?
Get one, plant it in your garden and when you get a bite just take a knife, cut off a piece and put only the inside "gel" over the bite. It soothes the itch and cools it down nicely.
Its a cactus plant and you should be able to find it at your local plant nursery.

Want a simple way to relieve ichiness caused from mosquito bites? Plain rubbing alcohol applied to the area ( keep out of eyes). It will help the itching and help them heal faster by keeping the germs outs. Good luck!

To keep them from biting in the first place, Put some vinegar in a spray bottle and spray yourself. When it dries the vinegar smell goes away and so do the mosquitoes.
I don't know how to stop the itching, sorry.
Hope

Any bi-carb based stuff is usually great for the itchys so try some toothpaste, if that fails, I've been told that even spit can work.

And if that fails, there's always proper treatments such as calamine or "stop-itch"

Best of luck

Calamine lotion is the best. Comes in pink bottles either liquid or paste form. I know, I know, you have to buy it in a drugstore, but it does come from a natural plant, you'd just have a hard time finding it in your back yard! Hope this helps!

My brother in law swears by that if you put a x with your nail into the bite it will stop itching . I have tried this and it works, don't know the logic must be subconscious

Cold water or ice. It's temporary, but it does numb the area. It works for me anyway. If you're planning on using ice, do NOT put the ice directly on your skin! Wrap it in a towel or facecloth first.

Yes. I've read that meat tenderizer works well but I've never tried it. I use hydrocortizone cream and it works fine.
