A microchip is NOT a tracking device. It is an extra form of identification with the owner's name, address and phone number stored in a data base and linked to an ID number. When a lost pet is taken to a shelter or vet who has a scanner, the chip can be read and the company that made the chip is contacted for the owner's info.

My dog is chipped and wears a tag from Avid, the company that made the chip and has his info on record. My dog also has his city dog license and a tag with his name and my phone number on it.

If your dog should happen to get lost, the likelyhood of you getting him/her back greatly depends on who finds him/her. Some people will take the dog to a shelter while others will keep it for themselves.

You need to keep your dog safe. Do not leave it unattended on a rope or other type of lead it can chew through. If you have a fenced yard, make sure that it can't squeeze through the fencing or go under/over the fence. Remember that invisible fencing only works when it's on, and does not prevent other dogs (or people) from coming into your yard.

I am thinking you fear many things in your life.
My list of things you can do. top 5 things
1. Stop worrying.
2. Mess up your dog so it is ugly.
3. Stop worrying.
4. Pick a less attractive dog.
5. Stop worrying.
6. Keep an eye on your eye on your dog.
7. Stop worrying.
8. The cuteness of a dog only affect the shallowness of the owner and the finder, if they like the dog for any reason they could keep it. Just hope the vet they take it to asks many questions and checks the microchip.

Your pet is not an accessory to your clothes, stop referring to it as cute.
If you only own an animal because it is cute then you need to part with the animal , go seek counseling and maybe then go get another.
I hope you are not having this dog because it is an in thing to do.

Sorry to say but a Yorkie costs R4000 in S.A.
and there is no way that somebody would return a dog like that, firstly is she is stolen it is because that person wants a Yorkie, and there is no way in hell that you will ever see your dog again. That is why a Yorkie is a dog that you keep in your house locked up tight, so that you can't lose it or can't be stolen

That depends on the type of person who finds the dog I suppose. I would hope that anyone who finds a dog would have the decency to at least amke a concerted effort to find the owner. Be careful and kind to your dog train them well and you shouldn't have any problem. Good luck!

Most people know how it feels to lose a pet...And would return your pet if he was lost...But if your really scare of losing your pet...Don't let him in the front yard...Put him in the back yard and keep an eye on the little guy...Went your in the house,Don't let him run out the front door...Just keep an eye on him...And everything will be okay...

OK, IF YOU HAVE A MICRO CHIP(KEEP IN MIND THAT A MICRO CHIP IS A TRACKING DEVICE SO THE COPS WILL NOT HAVE A PROBLEM FINDING HIS LOCATION) IN YOUR DOG AND THE PERSON WHO FOUND HIM WILL NOT RETURN HIM YOU CAN CALL THE POLICE AND THEY WILL RETURN HIM TO YOU AND IF YOU HAVE JUST A TAG, IF YOU HAVE REGISTRATION PAPERS OR VET BILLS ANY DOCUMENT VERIFYING HE'S YOURS THEN THE COPS WILL HELP TOO. SO EITHER WAY YOU'LL GET YOUR DOG BACK. UNLESS THE COPS IN YOUR TOWN ARE CROOKED. DON'T WORRY YOU'LL BE FINE I HOPE THIS NEVER HAPPENS. TAKE CARE.

try not to lose your dog ( keep the door or fence locked if you go out). and i think they are more likely to return it if there are posters for lost dog and if you put the telephone number on it or the collar.
