they should face a court martial, and then whatever punishment the court martial decides.
the most urgent need in iraq is some kind of a return to rule of law - even if this is only military law.
where there is a strong, visible, and efficacious legal system of apprehension and redress such atrocities don't happen.
calls for 'revenge' won't help the victims of this murder, nor protect the potential victims of ones which have not happened yet.

This subject has been brought up a number of times and once again I will state that in my opinion anyone who commits such a crime should receive the death penalty. I am praying that it will be proven that these men did not commit this horrific act.
But once again I will also state that our system of justice requires the presumption of innocence until proven guilty in a court of law. I will not hazard a guess as to either guilt or innocence. Interestingly enough, earlier tonight a question was asked about the prisoners at Guantanamo. One of the answers included a link to an amnesty international site discussing that issue. They had a proposal for how Guantanamo could be closed down and what should be done with the prisoners. They had a list of items that was their suggestion to the government. One paragragh I found interesting and I pointed this out in my response so this will be redundant if anyone read that, but in case you haven't I think it's something worth reading
"All US officials in the administration should desist from further undermining the presumption of innocence in relation to the Guantánamo detainees. The continued commentary on their presumed guilt applies a dangerous label to them – dangerous to the prospect for a fair trial and dangerous to the safety of any detainee who is released. This can only make the USA’s task of resolving the Guantánamo issue more difficult."
Isn't it ironic that those who are fighting for this country and the principles upon which it was founded are not shown this presumption of innocence by a large number of the American public and yet they will cry out for it to be shown to terrorists and insurgents who have killed Americans.

If they are in fact guilty of such horrendous acts the fitting punishment would be to hand them over to the families and allow them to meet out the punishment. If I were the family I would build a cross or a copy of what ever symbol represented by the belief of the man, secure them to it and slowly skin them alive allowing gangrene to set in then cut that off, get them well and start over again - all the while - offering him to every male animal within 20 miles then allow him to die only after he has experienced these punishments for as long as the youngest person was old when he killed them. The girl was 5 years old then they would have to suffer for 5 years before I allowed them to die. Or I would discover what way of dying frightens them the most and then make it happen.

I am a military veteran and I worry night and day about my brothers and sisters serving all over the world.
However, when a soldier, sailor, marine, or airman commits a crime that brings discredit upon themselves, their respective branch of service, and the United States of America, they should, without exception, be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the Uniform Code of Military Justice.
This is never a matter of who is a hero, which side of the political spectrum controls the war-drums, or how much a pudnit can smear any one who holds the military to the same standards as I do.

I guess the USA has become a country that condems always and says people are guilty till proven innocent?
I would take any info with a grain of salt...talk about it when all the facts are out, and a trial is over. Otherwise you ***-ume too much.

A military uniform is not a license to commit crimes.
IF convicted, they should get the maximum punishment allowed, because they incited even more hatred against soldiers who are still in Iraq and in harm's way.
