I dont think its a sin. God created sex and sexuality and the way your body works... its a beautiful thing to be used for pleasure.
But i do think that it can be sinful if you think of "bad things" during it.... like if you are married and thinking about someone else... just because you shouldnt cheat on your partner whether it be physically or mentally...

but thats just how i look at it.

Only if one's religion follows the Old Testament and specifically accepts the story of Onan ( who spilled his seed on the ground to prevent impregnating his brother's wife). Even then, it only prohibits male masturbation, the ladies don't waste reproductive energy by masturbating so they are just groovy.

I really need to post something here after the retarded comments I've seen. I don't believe in sin as described by the Christian scriptures. I believe in karma. So, unless you shoot in in your mother's eye there shouldn't be any problem. To be exact, Hell and damnation was created by the Xtian church to scare people into doing everything the priests told them to do. If anybody tells me that I'm committing a sin, I just tell them to shove they man made religion straight up their fat arses!

No, in fact masturbating is probably one of the healthiest things you can do.
Crazy fact:For every 10 minutes a woman masturbates, she burns 100 calories. O.o

yes because it is self abuse, it is a way to trick your body
into having sex by yourself, because your body already
naturally drives against the proper behavior that GOD
wants us to have and display, when you masturbate you
feed into your body's desire instead of GOD's desire
which eventually forces you, further into sexual desire
rather than towards self control sexually
and could eventually make you become deviant
or promiscuous and unhealthy sexually diseased
or cause you to die from promiscuity
or deviancy sexually, so yes it is a sin,
however it is a forgivable sin

Yes dear John, it is a sin, because you waste your reproductive power and energy for a little momentary pleasure. If you keep this energy with you or use it in bed with your wife it is more useful and morally more appropriate.

I say yes it is...

many diff reasons...it could be considered witchcraft. your making something happen un-naturally(it takes two to tango): why do you do it? to satisfy your flesh, and it is written that you should nail your lustful desires of the flesh on the cross.

then what are you thinking about when you do it? i doubt your counting sheep or praying???

then it could be considered homosexuality, unless your hand can turn into the opposite sex? if your a guy...your technically having sex with yourself....same for the ladies...

If you are doing it avoiding your legal sexual partner, then it is a sin. Otherwise to ease sexual tension within your body, you need to do it.
