You don't mention how long you've been taking your meds. Regardless, you should NEVER stop, increase or change your meds without first talking to your Doctor. If you feel they are not effective, you should contact your Doctor right away. Some meds do take time to become fully effective, so don't give up yet, but follow up with your Dr as soon as you can.

It depends on what the meds are, what your diagnosis is and if you feel you match that diagnosis. Do some reasearch and you may want a second opinion. It is possible you were misdiagnosed. You could have another disorder that is complicating this one. You also might need to be on a different yet similar medication prescribed for the same illness or you might simply need a higher dose. It also depends on how long you've been taking it. You really don't give a whole lot of info. in your question. The medical and also psychiatric fields are not a one size fits all application because all our bodies are different and require different things. So, there is no one set by the book answer that will work for everyone.

If you have only been taking the medication for one or two days, obviously you are not going to notice any results yet unless of course it is for a cold or is a pain reliever. Psychiatric medication usually take a couple week to change your body system adequately and the person taking them usually is not the one to notice a diffence in their thinking or behavior.

I hope this answers your question.

You should give the meds more time to work. Most medicines take 4 to 6 weeks to kick in and take full effect. If wanting to stop taking them, don't do that. Talk to your doctor about getting off them. They will help you wean yourself off them. Don't just stop taking them at once though. It not a good thing to do and could turn out bad. The best bet would be to give it time and wait a few weeks if you just started taking them. If not feeling better than, than go see your doctor for help and they will help you to go in the right direction.

If your meds aren't working, you should keep taking them and see your doctor as soon as possible. If you were to stop taking them completely, you could have adverse effects.

Best wishes! :)

certain meds take longer than others to reach therapeutic level
ask your Md who prescribed meds, before stopping them

Talk to your Dr. Tell him/her the meds don't work & see what your options are.
