try turning the lights out laying down in bed and putting on calming music at a low volume and closing your eyes... avoid thinking about things.... just focus on the music or better yet nothing...

Melatonin. It's all natural, works well and doesn't leave you with that doped up feeling in the morning when you wake up. If you are an average sized adult then 2 3mg tablets should do the trick. I work overnightsin in a large ems system and when I get home with the sun up and shining through my b'room window it's really hard to get to sleep. 2 of these babies and i'm out in about 10-15 minutes. The other good thing is that you're not comatose either. If the alarm goes off or a phone you can still hear it and come out of your sleep rathere easily. I swear by the stuff.

Warm milk, NOT cocoa, soothing music on the radio. Eat something lite, like graham crackers. Do something monotonous [I do a grocery list]. Make sure your bed, your clothes, the temp of the room is comfortable. Lay out your clothes, belongings for morning, one less worry. Warm bath or shower. Take Sominex tonight and sleep, safe and restful, sleep, sleep , sleep. If you have ever taken Benadryl before, I would recommend a product, but if you have not, skip it. It revs some people up. Same for Nyquil.. Some people get sleepy with a touch of alcohol. I do not. I rev up.
11pm to 8am is 9 hours. Chill, you have time to sleep. You are getting sleepy, sleepy. Your eyes are closing..
Think about yawning, try to yawn. Sometimes the power of suggestion will do it.
Good luck.

Don't drink 6 cans of Mountain Dew in one day next time. Try hitting your head on the wall or running in circles?
