can someone describe for me exactly how it's done ( if you want to start with your left or your right for example ) and any other worthwhile information about this

It's a combination, generally consisting of a jab followed by a right cross for right handers or a jab and a left cross for southpaws.

The old famous one two punch combination is a left jab followed by a right cross to the jaw!
