Take more xanax. There's no way you can be anxious on that stuff. Unless your coming down. Coming off xanax always makes me feel worse than I did before I took it. Try changing your diet, exercise, meditation, herbs, yoga. Don't drink caffeine.

hello!!! hrm, i was a pharmacy technician for awhile and xanax (alprazolam) and other relatives of the benzodiazepine family are your best bet for anxiety. they are ranked as schedule 4 drugs because of their sedating effects. effexor though is more of a dual acting drug for anxiety and depression, and of course the lithium would be for bipolar disorder. but i used to have panic attacks and anxiety when i was younger. effexor actually worrsened my anxiety though, and xanax made me WAY to stoned feeling. my therapist always told me to do something to take my mind off of it. so you could start out by trying to listen to music or watch tv. if you couldn't do that or it doesn't work you can actually move on to activities like walking/running, building something, drawing, or tons of other things. the trick to anxiety is getting your mind as far away from it as possible. but, another trick is to actually face your anxiety head on. to knock it out of the park by telling yourself what it is and that it isn't anything to be concerned with. anxiety is just a simple reaction your body creates when it doesn't understand something like dreading the unknown (like what a new school will be like or going somewhere for the first time) or it can be sudden like a loud bang or someone unexpectedly touching you. you've probably heard of adrenaline and nor adrenaline right? well, when you see a bug crawling across the floor nor adrenaline makes your get up and crush it. but when you see a lion and it runs at you your body pumps you with adrenaline to make you run away. but when both nor and regular adrenaline happen at the same time you freeze up, and you freeze up when you don't know what's happening. like, you're hiding under your sheets and hear a noise across your bedroom, you freeze and try and breathe quietly not knowing whether or not that noise came from a criminal or your cat. that's anxiety, but on a different scale, like going into a social environment can cause anxiety because you may not know anyone there and you may start wondering if they're getting a good impression of you or not, or if they're even noticing you at all. it just makes you nervous not knowing.
but yea, i'm an idiot, and in a nutshell. . .re-evaluate your meds with a doc (which i guess you can't do for awhile anyhow). . .do something to get your mind off of what's causing the anxiety. . .or battle the anxiety in your head by trying to understand what's causing it and telling yourself you can handle it. . .

I have personally suffered with depression and had more anxiety attacks than I care to mention. Hope this might help you, when we have anxiety we tend to focus on it which makes the problem worse. When I was in the hospital, they tried teaching deep breathing exercises to help relieve anxiety. Personally I don't think it is as much the deep breathing as it is focusing on something else.

Your problem just might be that you haven't been able to see your therapist for a while. I have bi-polar disorder too. You can email me and tell me what's been going on. When I know more about the situation, I'll better be able to help you. :)

Try treating yourself good for a change. Buy your favourite makeup, jewellery, some new clothes. Do something special for yourself and get outside to enjoy the beautiful summertime.

Call your doctor, he may want to adjust your meds. If you are out of control anxious, might be time for the ER.
