I am at a point where I cannot stand to see any thing or one suffer, even if it is on TV. The images will play over and over in my mind and I will dwell on them, and I will get sick to my stomach. Not just physical suffering, any kind of suffering. I tend to put myself in their position and wonder how I would feel. Does anyone understand this, or feel the same way. Any tips?

Yes, I am a mother of three kids, since the minute I had those kids I became sensitive to absolutly everything, I understand and have a hard time watching a lot of movies. People say I am too sensitive.
You are not suffering from any kind of depression or anxiety are you? I know that people become very very sensitive when depressed and maybe that is why you become so affected? Think about your life and how you have been feeling lately. Maybe its a good idea to talk to your doctor about depression?
Sadly there are some terrible things that go on in the world today, and I think TV is too violent, its very sad, but this shouldnt stop you living a happy and peaceful life.
Good Luck

Yes, I do. Either 1)See a shrink or 2)Get more involved in your own life. The reason people are not generally more empathetic now a-days is because they're too consumed with worry about how they're going to live (Pay rent, car insurance, etc.) I'm technically homeless, I am unemployed, I'm in poor health and constant pain from not receiving medical care ($$$) for a severe injury last year, my cell (only) phone expired yesterday cuz I don't own the $20 it takes to keep it on for another 21 days - what do I put on a job application - my license plate number?, oh wait, I can't do that, my insurance expires on the 18th... ETC ETC ETC

Yes. I cannot watch horror films, mob movies or anything with children being neglected, abused, or killed. Weird, i thought i was the only person with this "condition". I just try to stay away from those images, and i keep certain happy thoughts in my mind, and most importantly, i try not to dwell on real events. I think "well these are actors and it is fake" so it helps a little. It seems if im watching the news or reading an article on some person that was beaten, raped, or murdered (especially hate crimes and victims who are helpless) that i dwell on it and sometimes i cry. But i just try to think about a heaven they might be in, or that they are safe now. you might try therapy if it gets too bad. try research online also. sorry i couldnt help you more. KEEP HAPPY THOUGHTS, and STAY AWAY FROM BAD MOVIES (:

I am exactly like that. I cannot stand the sound of screaming, because I would do anything to try and stop the suffering. It literally kills me, because I get physically messed up because of it. People say I'm extra-concerned about everyone, and soooo freakin' nice. I usually sacrifice a lot for my loved ones. So my nickname is "Momma" lol. I definitely understand.

I think I'd avoid television for a while and look at the real world. You have to accept that there is suffering in the world but there's no reason to dwell on it.

I feel the complete opposite, I love watching people suffer in movies and on TV. I know it sounds weird but it's true. Example: I just watched the hills have eyes unrated version today and laughed when the girl got shot in the head, in all honesty. that's just my perspective though.

Yeah, Same to me. I think it is because we have a beautiful mind and care about it. But, i think the important thing is after you see it, what should you do. In my opinion, it can make me be a better human. Don't hurt anyone. should be a best way.

i was.. when i was a child my mom always told me to imagine i was the person whom i wanted to hit, kill, scold, give order to,etc
i always do that..

it is good because we can know how others feel.. it's also a talent

but it doesn't turn out that way, people's thinkings sometimes aren't the same with us..some people like to hurt themselves, etc

my tips is try to know more people and know their ways of thinking..
i had tried to do so,but since i am not good in socialization i can't improve my talent..
ok?

I think if everyone felt they way you do the world would be in a much better place. I would say don't fight it, you are a wonderful and compassionate human being. Allow your heart to lead you as it has, don't let it grow cold like many.
