I'm in search for meaning, answer the many questions I have, and understand the sufferings we go through in life.

However, there are many perspectives on reality, and I think I can project my own assessment based on facts.

I suppose the first question you should ask yourself is whether or not you believe in a closed-system of thinking, or an open one. Another thing you might then consider is whether there is POSSIBLE any objective truth. Your proposition of "projecting your own assessment based on facts" is totally dependant upon your own perspective and opinion. Following that reasoning, each person creates their own reality. That is logically unsound, however, as interaction between entities would be impossible, since each reality would be different and contradictory to the others. As a result, we find there MUST be one true reality. The REAL question is whether or not our assessment of reality is accurate. Once we find ourselves here, we have to ask ourselves what it is we are using as a "plumbline" to make that assessment. If you are convinced of a closed-system of thinking, I would suggest reading Aristotle. I'm sure you would find him interesting. As to whether or not your "self assertion" would be "evil" . . . are you referring to using the world around you as proof for or against the existence of God? If so, a Christian would say that since God created the world, that is the FIRST place to look! Christians would call that "general revelation." Beyond that is when God speaks to a person or people in a more direct manner, and that would be called "specific revelation." Hope that is a starting point . . .

If you want to put your marbles into a 2000 year old religion be my guest. Just use some basic logic first. Look back at your ancient people Greeks Romans etc. They also had gods. The only thing that Christianity offers is that there is legitimate historical places that existed but the stories were mutated. Remember the Holy Bible was written by a pagan who converted to Christianity on the day he died. (Constantine) And that was in the first century. The only reason he converted was because he knew that the tides were moving towards the new fad of the time. You should really check that out.

You should believe in God and accept Him as your savior. That's the most rightful thing you will ever do in your whole life. And self-assertion is not evil because He gave us that ability. Is it an assertion for Him or what? If it's for Him well that's wonderful. You can go to a local church that believes in the word and a full gospel,ok. God bless you.

because we all die one day and just the fact that hell may exist should make you at least study about christ so that you can make and informed decision. self-assertion is only evil because you didnt create your self so you are bragging about something you didnt even do. the only thing you have real control over is your thoughts, thats it. your life or family's life can be taken at anytime, your house can be devoured by a tornado or flood anywhere in the world, your finances can be stolen either by computer hijackers or robbers, the food you eat can be poisoned, the dog you own can maul you, and at anytime another country can nuke you, your job can fire you, your girlfriend can leave you, your kids can disown you, your looks can be disfigured in a fire, you can even lose your sight if you are hit between the eyes with a bottle rocket firecracker, so tell me exactly what do you have control of and why are you so sure of yourself. dont be surprised if the God you choose to deny today, becomes your only souce of help tomorrow.

No other religion says that unless you accept Jesus you will be save . No other religion puts down other religions except Christians . That should tell you something about Christians . Fake , too prideful and haters . And they think that they are the only ones that are special . We are all special with or without religion . And everything on this planet as well .

You could say to God that you want to meet Him.
You could say to God that you would like to know that He loves you.
You could say to Jesus that you want to meet Him.
He will answer!!! He will tell you in the very special way He desires for you.
Then you will be able to make the free choice of accepting Jesus as your Savior.

being a high school drop out it has taken me some time to figure out what self-assertion means. but i think i have figured it out...i think.

i could tell you you what you should or should not do, but that in itself could be considered as sel-assertion...forcing my beliefs/opinion on you in order to make you feel that you should, so that you can feel as powerful as me.
truth is, i'm in into all this power stuff....i am a follower of Jesus yes, but that doesn't make me all high and mighty above everyone else. i am human, and i have the ability to fail and make big as mistakes that would make me look like a common fool. being a follower of Jesus does not make me perfect, nor does it make me more superior than my neighbour. i am still a mere human with common feelings, doubts, desires and stupidities. when i looked at the meaning of the word i thought God doesn't force himself, his opinions or ideas upon me, nor does he boast about himself, or his acts.
so do i believe self-assertion is evil? if self-assertion is boasting about myself and my ideas/opinons/beliefs to make others feel inferior then yes i do think it is wrong.
Kath's answer to your question gives me the impression that I was created with this tendancy of being prideful of boastful which according to 1 Corinthians 13 is not love. God is love according to 1 John. God did not intend to create us with evil intentions (sinful nature) but because of Adam and Eve's "self-assertion" we have all been born with a sinful nature. forgive me if this is not what the previous answerer intended....maybe they could clarify their answer.

Zoerayne023 also provided an answer which is most intreguing she wrote and I quote "Remember the Holy Bible was written by a pagan who converted to Christianity on the day he died. (Constantine) And that was in the first century."
this is according to the book Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown. his own "facts" and research results were mutated.

looking at some so called "facts":
from my understanding, part of the evolution theory argues that life became to be by a "big bang" something just happened out of nothing. we can prove this theory but putting nothing into a petre dish and wait to see if something happens....which seems obsurd and pathetic and yet people believe in it! how could something like the beauty of the nature of earth be created by an explosion?
evolution is 1 question after another to me.

so why should you believe in God and except Jesus as your saviour?
let me as you something, why shouldn't you?

Rom 3:10 as it is written, "THERE IS NONE RIGHTEOUS, NOT EVEN ONE;
Rom 3:11 THERE IS NONE WHO UNDERSTANDS, THERE IS NONE WHO SEEKS FOR GOD;
Rom 3:12 ALL HAVE TURNED ASIDE, TOGETHER THEY HAVE BECOME USELESS; THERE IS NONE WHO DOES GOOD, THERE IS NOT EVEN ONE."
Rom 3:13 "THEIR THROAT IS AN OPEN GRAVE, WITH THEIR TONGUES THEY KEEP DECEIVING," "THE POISON OF ASPS IS UNDER THEIR LIPS";
Rom 3:14 "WHOSE MOUTH IS FULL OF CURSING AND BITTERNESS";
Rom 3:15 "THEIR FEET ARE SWIFT TO SHED BLOOD,
Rom 3:16 DESTRUCTION AND MISERY ARE IN THEIR PATHS,
Rom 3:17 AND THE PATH OF PEACE THEY HAVE NOT KNOWN."
Rom 3:18 "THERE IS NO FEAR OF GOD BEFORE THEIR EYES."
Rom 3:19 Now we know that whatever the Law says, it speaks to those who are under the Law, so that every mouth may be closed and all the world may become accountable to God;
Rom 3:20 because by the works of the Law no flesh will be justified in His sight; for through the Law comes the knowledge of sin.
Rom 3:21 But now apart from the Law the righteousness of God has been manifested, being witnessed by the Law and the Prophets,
Rom 3:22 even the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ for all those who believe; for there is no distinction;
Rom 3:23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,
Rom 3:24 being justified as a gift by His grace through the redemption which is in Christ Jesus;
Rom 3:25 whom God displayed publicly as a propitiation in His blood through faith. This was to demonstrate His righteousness, because in the forbearance of God He passed over the sins previously committed;
Rom 3:26 for the demonstration, I say, of His righteousness at the present time, so that He would be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus.

Rom 10:8 But what does it say? "THE WORD IS NEAR YOU, IN YOUR MOUTH AND IN YOUR HEART"--that is, the word of faith which we are preaching,
Rom 10:9 that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved;
Rom 10:10 for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation.
Rom 10:11 For the Scripture says, "WHOEVER BELIEVES IN HIM WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED."
Rom 10:12 For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek; for the same Lord is Lord of all, abounding in riches for all who call on Him;
Rom 10:13 for "WHOEVER WILL CALL ON THE NAME OF THE LORD WILL BE SAVED."

Mar 2:17 And hearing this, Jesus *said to them, "It is not those who are healthy who need a physician, but those who are sick; I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners."

Luk 5:32 "I have not come to call the righteous but sinners to repentance."

Joh 9:31 "We know that God does not hear sinners; but if anyone is God-fearing and does His will, He hears him.

Rom 5:6 For while we were still helpless, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly.
Rom 5:7 For one will hardly die for a righteous man; though perhaps for the good man someone would dare even to die.
Rom 5:8 But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
Rom 5:9 Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from the wrath of God through Him.
Rom 5:10 For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life.
Rom 5:11 And not only this, but we also exult in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received the reconciliation.
Rom 5:12 Therefore, just as through one man sin entered into the world, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men, because all sinned--
Rom 5:13 for until the Law sin was in the world, but sin is not imputed when there is no law.
Rom 5:14 Nevertheless death reigned from Adam until Moses, even over those who had not sinned in the likeness of the offense of Adam, who is a type of Him who was to come.
Rom 5:15 But the free gift is not like the transgression. For if by the transgression of the one the many died, much more did the grace of God and the gift by the grace of the one Man, Jesus Christ, abound to the many.
Rom 5:16 The gift is not like that which came through the one who sinned; for on the one hand the judgment arose from one transgression resulting in condemnation, but on the other hand the free gift arose from many transgressions resulting in justification.
Rom 5:17 For if by the transgression of the one, death reigned through the one, much more those who receive the abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness will reign in life through the One, Jesus Christ.
Rom 5:18 So then as through one transgression there resulted condemnation to all men, even so through one act of righteousness there resulted justification of life to all men.
Rom 5:19 For as through the one man's disobedience the many were made sinners, even so through the obedience of the One the many will be made righteous.
Rom 5:20 The Law came in so that the transgression would increase; but where sin increased, grace abounded all the more,
Rom 5:21 so that, as sin reigned in death, even so grace would reign through righteousness to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
