When you sign your contract, there's a whole section about the "don't ask, don't tell" policy that you have to read and sign. They are not allowed to come out, act gay, or partake in any homosexual activities. If they do, they may be discharged. I am not aware of all the reasons behind this other than the fact that there are too many men that still haven't grown up. That's my take on the subject.
I know that we had a guy that was gay in my company when I went through basic training. He was actually my battle buddy untill we were placed in two separate platoons. I'll admit, at first, I kinda distanced myself from him, but then I realized that he was really a nice guy. He never made any passes on anyone, because he wanted to be there (making a pass would be grounds for discharge). A couple of immature kids decided that they were gonna hold him down one night, and look for "evidence" that he was gay because they "didn't want a f@g" around them. Well, that $hit wasn't gonna fly on my bunk (army uses bunk beds; I was on the top bunk), so we duked it out, and those idiots got the $hit duty for a month, plus some pay taken. I would have to say that I would have trusted him long before I would have trusted any of the other idiots.

good day Uncle, If he's gay, then he likely gained't recommendations you asking him out proper; yet when he's immediately, it may offend him. actually do not ask around the workplace! no longer all gay men have 'obtrusive gay mannerisms,' or maybe immediately men may have a tendency to have those mannerisms. not in any respect assume because it makes an as* out of u and me....get it?...(as* u me) If he's not out, his sexuality may be difficult to verify. purely pass out with him some cases, invite him round on your position, and be conscious if he will go back the invite and assist you to to pass to his position. Get to carry close him, and also you would possibly want to verify in time. Sexuality would properly be a really own aspect to three human beings. He would come to have self assurance you in time. i desire that you get the end result you're searching for for. i'm so inquisitive now, do enable me comprehend the way it extremely works out!! :o) I favor you each of the desirable!

Yes, they are allowed in the military. The US military has a "don't ask, don't tell" policy. I don't believe someone's sexual preference should affect whether or not they are patriotic. Look at all the straight soldiers getting in trouble for raping and murdering Iraqis.

Not if they are open about it. They can, but they cannot ever be caught saying that they are or be seen physically doing anything that would be considered homosexual. And it can be considered discrimination, but so could not allowing women to have combat jobs.

I dont know. Its hard because then you have to think about simple things like sleeping arrangements... It complicates things. I dont support the lifestyles of homosexuals, but I still love the people and if they want to be in the army then good for them.

Like has been stated. The Army has the "Don't ask, don't tell" clause. As long as you don't flaunt, discuss, get caught doing homosexual acts etc. you can serve.

I think they have a don't ask don't tell policy. I know that applies to the Air Force, but I am not sure that it applies to the Army.

No, but there is a "Don't ask, don't tell" policy. Basically, homosexuals are allowed as long as they don't act on it or disclose that they are. One word or one actions would mean they are out.

I've been out for 16 years, but from what I re-call from the Uniformed Code of Military Justice ( UCMJ ) it was punishable when I was in. Since times have changed... you should check out this source at your local library. Also you can check out with military recruiter. They should have the facts. Unless one of them answers here on this site.

Homosexuals are allowed to enlist, provided they hide their orientation, and never "come out" while serving.
Is it right? That is not my place to say, however, I will say. Not enough "Real Men" want to serve, so let gays serve. If you disagree, enlist so the military will have enough people.
