Based on this definition, I don't think it fits the qualifications, so no and no based on my own beliefs.

Christianity for me is a way of thinking, and feeling about the world, and life. I don't go to church, except for events like weddings, and funerals. And I've never felt the pressure to join. My parents took me to many churches as a child, to let me see what they were all about. But, there are many congregations that love to isolate their people, and label the world as satanic. That is an indication that those small groups may be a cult. The word cult is to ambiguous to use in this forum, without a clearer definition than you've given. That indicates to me, that you've had little, or no experience with religion, or cults. That's good, not bad. You can get a bible, and make your own decisions. That's the best way.

I believe so. Before it became the huge political machine it is today, back in ancient times when it was still small. You know, back in Rome (that's the big empire out of Italy that reached its peak about 2000 years ago) the Roman officials (before Constantine) had a problem with a 'cult' called Christianity. Not all cults require mass suicide. Some just want your money.

cult seems harsh.. but religion isn't clear enough for me to die for. im all for peace and love.. i don't need a book for that, though I wouldn't knock one.

There are two kinds of people on this rock: Those who are all brain, those who are all heart. (well, there are a million in between). Religious people can be too much brain; scientists too much heart. You could flip that and it'd still make sense. A better one would be religiious people can have more brain than the words in the book require, scientists more brain than they should have. Too much brain to think some. So, if you follow a book for righteousness and pray, too, follow it to be righteous, not just to follow.

Yes. The difference between those who call themselves religions, and those these religions call cult is only of prestige and money. But deep inside, they're all the same. They all tell you what to do, how to do it and when to do it. And they all tell you you'll be punished if you don't do it. It's the same, really.

christianity in itself is not a cult but some people who have called themselves christians(such as david karesch, jim jones, etc.) have formed cults that can give christianity a bad name. people like that twist the bible for their own selfish needs.
