Because there IS caffeine in decaf coffee, about as much as 1 soda, but that is about 10 times less than what is in a cup of regular coffee

Decaf coffee is the anti-Christ. Whomever came up with the idea should be executed. If I ever caught someone screwing with my caffeine intake, I'd have to kill them in their sleep. That is, after I had a cup of joe.

The only excuse for drinking decaf is if you had too much coffee and have the jitters but you just NEED a fix. But it's like comparing sex to masterbation. It just isn't quite as fun not going the extra mile.

*There still is a little caffiene in decaf. It's just not enough to make a difference. Taking an aspirin is about the same.

Hey! You're talking about me.

Caffeine is a drug with a particular feature -- "negative tolerance." This means that the more you drink, the more sensitive you are to it and the LESS it takes to get you alert and awake.

So if you guzzle coffee for years as I did, you wind up getting a smashing headache (too much stimulation and alertness!) from even a tiny styrofoam cup of coffee!

So now what do I do, it's a lifelong habit that makes me sick?!

Decaffeinated coffee has been processed to take out the caffeine and put everything else back, so I can still have coffee.

Or, if you will, I have chemically and nutritionally crippled myself with a caffeine sensitivity, and good decaf coffee allows me to act normally and have coffee with my snacks as I want.

Not always the case... I saw a news program that tested decaf coffee from chain stores and found that they were selling decaf coffee with way more caffeine than allowed percentage-wise... and workers sometimes poured coffee from the wrong pot giving someone who ordered decaf a regular cup of coffee...

Coffee is good anytime of the day for me. I don't drink it to wake up, I just like the taste. So when I get coffee at night I get decaf so it won't keep me up all night.

Yes it is for the mental satisfaction of those people who think that drinking caffinated coffee is bad.

Solme people just like the taste of coffee but for health reasons can't have the caffeine. Regular coffee has no affect on me. I can drink a pot of it before bedtime and still sleep like a baby.

Some people like the taste of coffee but don't want to be kept wide awake. Plus if you drank reg. coffee at night like some people do after supper, you'd be awake all night.
