Only 100% way of knowing is by DNA testing by blood or feather. Avian biotech is who I use. Just call or submit for a collection kit. It takes about a week. The can email you the results plus send you a certificate.

Blood Sexing $19.50

Feather Sexing $24.50

relies upon on what breed of parrot you have. some species you are able to tell by ability of the shade of the poultry. regardless of the incontrovertible fact that there is many species the place you are able to not. in case you are able to not, your avian vet can draw the bord's blood and do an DNA attempt which will inform you in spite of if that's a male or woman. I heard this is fairly pricy nonetheless.

dna sexing, can be done by blood or feathers. Depending on species some are sexually dimorphic for example if you said your "green Parrot" was an eclectus , i woul d have told you it was a boy. lol. Unless you are wanting to breed it is not neccesarry, but there are places online to order kits, then you just have to send off the blood sample or feather for a set cost.

You need to DNA sex it. I've heard that you can tell by it's ribs aswell. Females have their bones further apart from each other than the males because females lay eggs.

To DNA sex birds you just have to pluck four feathers from it's chest and sent them to the laboratory.

Check if you can tell boy from girl visibly by plumage on the outside. If not you will need to have DNA testing done on it. Your vet can do it or you can order a kit, where you pluck a feather and mail it in. Vets can also do a minor surgery where the take a peek inside and find out. but I don't like to do that. It's really not that necessary unless you want to breed.

There are several companies that offer DNA testing for a about $25.00. They will send you a kit and all you have to do is collect a small drop of blood. I don't know the name of the company right now but if you buy a copy of bird talk magazine you can find out.

Either have blood feathers examined or just wait. My bird started laying eggs before she was a year old. Also, I've noticed that males sing more than females. My girl just screeches a lot but the male I had prior sung more often.

Each type of parrot is different. Some parrots can only be sexed by a blood test. It can cost quite a bit to get it done and you need to ask yourself if you really need to know?...... are you going to have it bred?........Do you know how difficult that is?......Is it really necessary?

one, look at it's underbelly. if that doesn't help, listen to the way it makes soud, like humans a feminine voice tends to be softer, a males louder and deeper
