Why is there a governing term for priests? Even the reason for presidential terms is good. Can you please give me some websites to go to?

It's sort of the same reason we do it in presidential elections. The church doesn't want too much attachment to the priest, and they don't want priests getting too much power. They want everything focused on God.

Not all congrigations have this problem. MANY congrigations, and all healthy ones keep priests around for much longer.

In congrigations where there is frequent turn over it is because that is about how long it takes for a congrigation to chase off a priest, (or for the priest to decide that some group of lay people are not worth the time and agony required to fight with) for the priest to beg the bishop for re-assignment, and for a new assignment to be found.

If you are having troubble with regular turn over - look at who it is that causes your priest grief, and know that among the diocese's clergy, your congrigation has a reputation as a problem congrigation - which means that you will have a HARD time getting a good priest to be willing to come to your congrigation.

This has it's origins in church history more than anything else. There was a time when the church basically owned everything. Priests were the only ones who could own property and pass it on to their heirs. A lot of men entered the priesthood simply for this reason. As a result, the church instituted celibacy laws and bagan shuffling priests around to reduce what it considred to be an abuse.
