Does God (or God thru Jesus) ever actually say to respect others religions? (if so could you please give me chapter + verse). I know it says to respect others but Jesus fought for our faith so shouldnt we? (by fight i dont mean physical harm) I know God will help those to him when they need it and are just stumbling but do you think we as christians are allowed to help that along? after all were supposed to love our brother and since were all gods children (no matter how far some have strayed) then were all brothers (and sisters:) so if we love our brother wouldnt we want him to turn to christ everlasting even if this means troding on the respect of his beliefs a little? (ie bringing prayer back to schools, Banning gay marriage, Raising our voices in politics more, etc) im not talking about overthrowing freewill here just using OUR freewill to make our voices heard louder then theirs and hopefully with gentle persuasion have them find Christ for themselves.

I belive we should stand up for our saviour st all costs. Look what He did for us. I am so glad that by His mercy He waited on me this long to come to Him so I could help carry out His Word. Jesus loves you and He died for you .

If they have to sacrifice their beliefs, then so should you. Judge not. You have the right to preach at any street corner, and rally, and join political parties. Just because they are your belifs don't mean they are correct. Why should there be a need for school prayer? There are many other ways to reach children, why shouldn't a ga couple be allowed to marry? They love each other and want to show commitment. That's marriage!! Have you ever considered that your religion is wrong? In my personal experience, I have met hundreds of Christians. Deacons of churches who rape children, preists that rape little boys. When my husband was 7 he was chained to a hot water pipe in the basement while being beaten by a man of the church. I was raped by a "Man of God" So I guess my point is, until you can show me that your religion is worth being allowed above all others, then yours can compromise just like everyone else.

I don't know if I would use the word Respect. I try to be tolerant of other beliefs but even God hates a lie so I also try to make a point to tell those that believe other ways where I come from and hope that they will want to know more. IF not I pray for them that they come to CHrist before it is to late because I find no joy in anyone being eternally damned.

In order to respect other beliefs we must first know what the beliefs are. If their goal is positive, then why not? but if negative, then we should warn them.

We know murder, adultery, thief, lies, etc all will end in someone else got hurt. We know that hatred, anger, jealousy, all do not end good, especially for our own mentality (we got heart pains and such) - truly a waste of time and not constructive. We know orgies, homosexuality, and other sexual sins will end in someone get a certain disease like herpes or AIDS. It's all the matter of understanding the consequences. some people do not think of the consequesnces, so they hurt themselves, others... and thus society becomes chaotic.

John 4
23Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. 24God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in spirit and in truth."

Ok... the Bible does NOT say we have to respect other people's religious beliefs, HOWEVER, the Bible does tell us that we are to treat others as we wish to be treated. (So, if you want your beliefs respected, you should respect others). You can share your beliefs without offending someone of another faith (except for those poor souls who are just really easily offended).

I Peter 3:15 - 16 tells us "Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect, keeping a clear conscience, so that those who speak maliciously against your good behavior in Christ may be ashamed of their slander."

That means you are free to share your faith (in fact Jesus tells us to tell everybody) ... but you can't beat people over the head with your Bible... we are to be a living example. Make them wonder... and if you are gentle and peaceable in your approach, they have no reason not to listen...

Freewill only goes so far as Christians somebody has to make the sacrifice to help keep these heathen bastards on the right track! All these atheists and whatnot try to twist the Bible's wording around to make it sound like they have some legitimate base to argue when they don't. Look now, everybody is trying to force Christianity out from everywhere when this country was founded on so many Christian principles!~

Why don't you look carefully at the difference between Jesus driving the moneychangers out of the temple and his treatment of the woman caught in adultery and the crowd who wanted to stone her.

In the first he was angry but only flipped tables and made a declaration about the use of His Father's House(My Father's House shall be a house of prayer, but you have made it a den of thieves)

In the 2nd he gently scribbled in the dirt and then asked the crowd: "Whoever is without sin may cast the first stone". He waited quietly while the crowd dispersed and then told the woman to "Go and sin no more"

Paul exhorts us to ready to teach. Not condemn or Yell at those who have strayed from the truth.

Lastly, let's look at the fruit of Christians calling people names or arguing with them. Name calling alienates people and arguing usually makes people feel rebellious or stubborn.

I only "correct others" after much soul seeking and prayer and then very humbly, and one to one to allow them to save face.

It should never be personal. Take a stand against gay marriage. But not against gay people.

Yeah, we avoid other religions and their teachings. Other religions will always exist. In the Old Testament Godly Kings would tear down asherah poles and idols etc... but in the New Testament, I haven't really seen any of that. I think that if you are able to keep yourself uncorrupted and spread truth than the rest will follow. Hitting people over the head with your Bible doesn't work. It's our job to tell people about our Hope, live a good life and by doing so, glorify God.

we are not meant to respect one yet another's EVIL beliefs. Acts and ideology unacceptable to total people of global shouldn't in any respect be respected. So rape, sacrifices, homicide and discrimination or the different acts or beliefs that comes lower than the category of EVIL might want to not be respected.

I'm not religious but I think you don't have to sacrifice anything to respect other people's beliefs or lack of belief. Besides, I understand that you'd like everybody to be a Christian, but what you cannot do (if anything, because it's illegal) is IMPOSE your faith on others. I have a right to send my children to a school where nobody talks to them about God. I mean, you may think that's wrong, but still I have that right. And if I were gay, I should have the right to marry my partner, too. I mean, a state cannot impose on EVERY CITIZEN a law inspired on the religion of a group. Not as long as laws grant me the right to freely choose another faith, or none at all. If you forced me to do (or prevented me from doing) something, solely on the ground that it's not approved of by YOUR religion, then you'd be trespassing on my right to choose whichever faith I want to have. And that is wrong.

I will defend your right to SAY whatever you want. I will defend your right to DO whatever your religion asks you to do. But you HAVE to let me (and everybody else) do whatever WE want to do, according to our faiths, or lack of fath. Also we have our rights.

Love thy neighbor as thyself. Would you like others to respect your own beliefs? Enough said. God Bless you in the name of Jesus Christ, Muhammad, Moses, Confucious, The Buddha, The Dalai Lama, Ali, Husayn, Baha'uallah, Cao Dai, Joseph Mormon, and Tom Cruise (jk on the last one). Amen.
