The question is erroneous as the act of dying never achieves anything in any circumstances, unless you look at it from various religious perspectives, and there is a seperate section for that.
The question of our presence in Iraq is not really about what we are achieveing but rather what we are preventing.
We are there now only to hold some kind of order whilst the new Iraqi government, police force, and army, get strong enough to maintain a sembalance of law and order.
They are already killing each other over religious and tribal differences at an alarming rate and if we withdrew now the place would descend into Somalia 2. Sunni Muslims are killing Shi'ite Muslims, Kurdish Muslims are killing Sunni Muslims and Baathists are killing everyone.
It is our responsibility now as it was our actions in dismantling their security forces which has led to this being nessesary.
P.S I think that some of your figures are wrong as well as I'm not sure that 364 "other" coalition deaths is accurate

1) WMD's have been found, old, but found. That shows that Saddam lied about destroying his WMD's, which proves he couldn't be trusted. Since no studies have been made on how toxic mustard or sarin gas is in it's older state...no one can say how deadly those weapons could be today.
2) He is a shrewd terrorist. He knows his way around the caves of Afghanistan, and he knows the satellite systems we use for tracking etc. That doesn't mean we should say NEVER. We have ways...it will just take time. Patience is a virtue.
3) Most of the deaths are due to Al Qaeda insurgents bombing and wreaking havoc in the country. Should we just let the terrorists have their way?
4) That's not true...who do you think they are holding in Guantanamo Bay Cuba? People who have info that they need to "CRACK!"
5) Not true...Saddam gave AQ a safe haven when in the country...and if he had not been taken out of power, he would have used his considerable wealth and dastardly tactics to help them at some point. Silently!
As for the COST:
This war has less casualties than any other waged by the USA, or fought in by the USA. I think that should be noted and taken into consideration. It's horrible to have any deaths, but war is war. These soldiers gave their lives for this country...to try and keep us safe, to keep the terrorists from getting a leg up in this world, and bringing more attacks to our shores. It would be wise for more to remember that, and respect it.

Do not be so short sighted. The results will be seen 20 - 30 years from now. When free Iraqi's look back at our sacrifices for them, they will be grateful I am sure. Just remember what is right is not always popular. I know that is a chessey saying but there is alot of truth in that. I do not know how you are. But in the first gulf war agreement with Saddam, we had the right to go back in 15 days later, if he had not met the rules set out. Guess what, over the next 12 years, he did not follow the agreement.

Why did we fight in world war 1 or 2 on foreign soil, Why did men and women die in Every war we have ever fought.
you sit in you home on your computer writing this question with the freedom to do so because men and woman of the US armed forces put their Lives on the line daily, and voluntarily I might add, so that you have those rights and privileges. I do not agree with everything that has happened in Iraq or Afghanistan or the way it was handled but what you see on TV is only the violence of war. The media has a way of showing only that what is not shown are the countless job created for those countries in the way of building power plants, oil refiners, pipelines to sell oil to rebuild their own country, fresh water and medical aid for nationals of those countries because people militants not US military person blew up a car in the middle of a public square kill not Americans or other military personnel but their own people. Why we ask, Because they don't want women to vote, work, have an education. They don't believe that people of the same religion but from different regions can govern together. because one man does not have a beard cause his tribe does not demand it and another does so he should be killed for that. It is not about WMDs anymore not about the money it is about human life and the struggles that 2 countries have in making life for their people better.

What does moving the lawn achieve? After all more than 40,000 Americans a year are taken to the hospital from injuries related to lawn care.
Person 1: How did you lose your arm? Were you in Iraq?
Person 2: I was using a weed wacker at home and it bit me.
Future results will determine if it was worth it. I think more than 3,000 Americans died at Normandy (one battle).

"Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is to tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in any country"

every time americans die we see mothers , fathers, brothers , sisters, friends loose a part of their lives, their lives are destroyed and families fall apart, they build up hatred in thier hearts against the muslim world and its people.. this is what the supporters of this war keep banking on. the more hatred that exist we loose a bit more of our humanity, we become so numb to killing that we believe what the war machine feeds us and we continue to give up what we are suposedly fighting for, our freedom

good day if we pull out of Iraq tomorrow this is gained't difficulty me. yet my motives are completely diverse from yours. your time those days the great Minister or President of Iraq stated we may be able to leave any time we favor to. because I actually have continually been an recommend of leaving IF we were instructed or requested to leave, i am going to take that as a good reason to deliver the troops domicile. so a options because the clarification we went into Iraq being to make profites for oil and fingers organizations. in case you've faith that, then you likely remember on Santa Claus, Easter Bunny, good Fairies, and Democrats in straight forward words have YOUR pastimes at heart. so a options as Democratsdoing something to deliver the troops domicile. they don't look to be about to placed an end to at least something that improves their probability of increasing their political potential. as long as Iraq is sucking money from the budget this is to the Democrats income to placed on a teach they're hostile to the conflict each of the even as not in any respect extremely doing something to end it. If the Democrats in mass went earlier the media and stated, 'The Iraqi leaders have stated we may be able to deliver our troops domicile on each occasion we favor. properly Mr President we favor to deliver our troops domicile. even as are you going to commence bringing them domicile?' What determination would he have? you want to leap on Bush for placing out Iraq? properly why are not you leaping on Democrats for ending it?
