I have 2 dogs other then him and so, I know he is not bored. My girls walk him all the time around the neighborhood. Please help me before my husband gives him up.

put a wire fence up. they are relatively cheap. the first few times the dog touches it, it scares the hell out of him.... wont' know what hit him. he'll learn the hard way.

note to all you animal rights enthusiasts... i have been shocked by this fence... it won't kill him, it doesn't hurt. it will only scare him... AND TEACH HIM to stay away from the fence.

i think even more inhumane would be to tie him up. :( :( :(

I've also heard of these collars you can put on them that will make a piercing noise if they wonder from the perimeter.

I remember looking at a pet store once at a harness type device that did not interfere with a dog's walking or running, but prevented them from jumping. Our fence needed replacing anyway, so it went from 7 to 9 feet. Electric fences are a great idea if you can't build a bigger fence. The "shock" is not enough electricity to hurt them, and eventually you can turn off the juice and just leave the markers. We had a "special" setter that would fall in the pool and becuase of her disabilities was not the best swimmer (besides the fact that she would panic). We put up a wire with little flag markers to section her off from the pool with a little electricity attached (grandpa was an engineer and built his own). After 3 months, we disconnected it from the electricity but left the wire up. Worked like a charm

Put in a electric collar fence or get a wood fence that he can't
climb. You can put up a electric collar fence even you have a existing fence. It isn't as cruel as people think, the dog learns quick. You cat use a lawn edger to put in the wire. Some people even use Elizabethan collars to keep their dog in. There is also a electric collar fence that doesn't use wires. Check out Pet Safe products on line.

Boxers are extremely notorious for doing this. The dog wants to be with you. The only thing I can tell you is to try putting some kind of stopper at the top of the fence. But it will make it look dumb. Pretty much an unstoppable thing unless you catch him as he's doing it and let him know that it's bad. Good luck!

We had a boxer that did the same thing. We had to put an electric wire up around the fence. It didn't hurt him at all, but made him quit jumping and climbing.

put an over hang on the fence so he can't.
when he tries, tie him up instantly for about 10 minutes without anyone around or any toys, make it really boring. If he tries again when you let him off, tie him up for longer. It might take a while but it will work. When you let him off play with him for a while so he knows that home is fun.

Tell your Hubby to be patient, it will work.

Yours Sincerely,
Alison

my friend had that same problem. the only thing she could think of instead of gettin a taller fence was get a tie out and put it in the middle of the yard so he cant get closer then a foot from the fence

Ok i have an Idea which work for my pug who kept jumping on the couch. They sell these mats at pet stores that have little plastic spikes on top. A dog will walk on it and they hate it and they wont walk on the mat anymore. If you by a few of the mats (about $15 bucks each) and line them up where he likes to jump...he will most likley stop jumping! hope this works!! (the mats do not harm the dog!!)

You may have to get a fence charger and run a hot wire at the top. Dogs can smell the electricity and unless he's really dumb, shouldn't get shocked. I used to raise Dobies and to do this to keep them in. One time will cure the problem...

Call in the national guard. When that fails probably make an extension to the fence, maybe make it curved like a prison fence.
