I have bad knees and a slighty bad wrist which makes it hard for me to do pushups. I like pushups though which bites. I want to join the army national guard but I am not sure whether they would accept me. I am in good shape (mostly) and run track. I was just curious to hear military stories and if anyone has been accepted with minor injuries.

Yes you can be accepted into the military if you have a few injuries. It does depend on the extent of your injuries. You need to disclose all injuries to your recruiter and you need to provide medical documentation to your recruiter so he can forward it to the MEPS (Military Entrance Processing Station) and they can process you for a waiver. More likely than not, your waiver will be approved. Also the Army does not require you to do pullups in basic training just the 2 mile run, pushups and situps. Once you get through with Basic and your job training you can always get a medical profile from a doctor that excuses you from doing pushups (although this is sometimes frowned upon). I did almost 5 years active duty, my husband did four, and I am currently the admin assistant to 55 recruiters in western MI so I pretty much know what kind of stuff you can and can't get in with. Thank you for considering joining the armed forces. It is not an easy life. Good luck!

check with your local recruiter . They have waivers for certians things. They appect people who are overweight but by alot. try the Air Force reserve first before the Army. The boot is just about 8 weeks long. the Air Force BMT is at 6 WOT. The Air Force is the easiest in psychical trainng.

In your personal case i would think that the military would not accept you only because you would need to crawl and pass boot camp before you could get in. If you ever went into war like say to Iraq and you had to crawl around on the ground only using your wrists and knees you could cause yourself more injury.

It most;y depends on what MOS (Military Occupational Speciality) you are seeking. The military has a number of desk jobs that don't require sever military endurane - different type of desk jobs.. Talk with your recruiter about your situation - they should be able to find something that will mmet your qualifications.

y would you want to put more harm to yourself? they might let you in.. but if you cant train.. you just wasted weeks of your time. and if i remember correct the army also does pullups.. you may want to see a dr. just to find out if you tore anything.
