I see a woman almost everyday with what i thought was 5 dogs. now i find out she has at least 7or8 dogs. they seem healthy. i just thought their would be to many in the car. and i have seen this woman's car with several dogs in it at a time. i should say that these dogs are not of the small or even the midsize fido models. they're huge like rottweillers etc. etc. also the car is what i would consider small for keeping that many dogs.

Good question. I know someone who has 8- yes, 8-dogs. She treats them all well, but I still think she's a nut. Plus, because her life is pretty much devoted to caring for these dogs 24-7, it is virtually impossible for her to have any kind of social life (would you date a nutty dog woman?). I know that she would basically lay down her own life for these dogs, and for that I think she's a kind-hearted woman. But in my opinion, any more that 3 dogs at once is waaaay too many!

My husband and I have 8 dogs. 5 pugs, a lhasa apso, a boston terrier mix, and a rottie mix. Three of these dogs were destined for the pound or perhaps euthanization if we hadn't given them a home. We love each one of these animals, and they are our babies. I have to do a lot of vacuuming and mopping, but if you walked into our home, and didn't see the doggies, you'd never know we have them. They are all bathed regularly and are all very healthy and happy. They are all on heart-worm prevention and flea prevention. We don't ask anyone's help with them financially-- and we can afford them. Heck, I'd have more if I had the time and space. We have a privacy fence, and they "go" in the backyard... They don't hurt the neighbors...
I guess what I'm trying to say is this-- if the dogs are well taken care of, and they are happy and the woman is happy, then it's fine. Dogs deserve a modicum of care... I hope, however, the woman is NOT keeping these dogs in a car. IF she is, then yes, someone needs to be called.

Is she a dog walker perhaps?

Most municipalities and areas have maximum number of dogs allowed per household. In my city, it's three, in others it's two, etc.

Find out the maximum first, otherwise, you might end up just getting a run-around...

Are they being mistreated?
Does she have control of the dogs?
Are they well trained?

Generally, I'm not for that many dogs, but as they're big dogs - chances are if they weren't with her they'd end up euthanized.
Sad but true - the boutique purse models are the 'rage'....

Plus, I'm pretty sure they don't live in the car.

Unless the dogs are pooping on your porch, it really isn't any of your business how many dogs she has. I have 11 and 15 puppies right now. They don't bother anyone and none of my neighbors would have a right to say anything unless my dogs were bothering them.

They all live in my house and play in our back yard. They are fed VERY well and taken to the vet when needed.

Maybe you could my friends with the lady..She sounds like a dog lover, or maybe she does rescue.. Or maybe even a breeder.

But I am curious, is she living in the car with the dogs? You make it sound like that..

As long as the animals are healthy and happy their is probably nothing wrong. Some people who don't have anybody in their life or don't have a job will have more animals, because they don't have anything else to do. If they ride around with her they sound spoiled to me. There are rules in most county's on how many pets people can own. Mine is 10 cats 3 dogs.

However many you can properly care for. I have 5, but I know many people with 10-12. I even know someone with 30 or so, but she devotes her whole life to take very good care of her dogs. They are large Hounds and are not a needy breed.

I also know people who struggle to take decent care of one dog. I don't think numbers mean a whole lot, and even as numbers go, 7-8 is not that many to me.

And for crying out loud, (as someone posted) don't do something as nasty as call animal control unless you know she is abusive!!! How unbelievable nasty it would be to do something like that to someone because they have more dogs than YOU can manage!!! Take away someones loved pets to fill up the shelters even more!

A s many as one wants as long as they're being taken care of properly. She may be a dog sitter or just has a natural love for animals. Or maybe she's just transporting them for a shelter or clinic. As long as they're not kept in the car for long periods of time, whats the harm.

That would depend on how well she takes care of them, herself, and their home. Some people foster animals form the shelter (like children who have foster homes). Or she could rescue some of these animals. Now, where I live, there is a limit to how many animals (mainly dogs) you can have within city limits without a permit.

does she keep them in the car or do you just see her driving with them?? she may be a profesional dog walker or trainer and thats her class. you never know. also it depends on where you live as to how many pets you can have where i'm from you can have as many as you can afford to take care of. but if you are found to mistreat them or you dont take proper care of them they take them all away some places like florida you can only have 3 dogs. unless you have a breeders licence.
