It was for freedom that Christ set us free; therefore keep standing firm and do not be subject again to a yoke of slavery.

Religion is not born to save mankind.
As you said religion is a bondage and it is the barrier between us and our Creator.

Concerning God, we should go further from faiths and beliefs to reach reality. Here the main problem is religion and its leaders. These blind leaders never wants us to think above what they can. Because if we question them, they have no answer to it.

Knowing the Creator is true wisdom and He is the ocean of wisdom. Suppose you see a new machine which is first in the world. Naturally you will search to know what is the use of it. But a wiser one will start thinking who made it and how. Here we need that mind when we see the whole world. That will end you up in knowing God as a reality and not just a matter of faith/belief.

Religion does not free anyone from ignorance, it encourages ignorance by causing people to be content with "God did it" as a reason for everything. In most religions, wisdom, skepticism, and knowledge are looked down upon, while foolishness, ignorance, and blind faith are praised. The idea is that, if there is some sort of deity (or more than one) watching over everyone and causing events to happen, then one must worship it as the source of one's very being. As such, one has no need for education, science, or medicine, since the deity will take care of everything you need. How is this supposed to free one from ignorance? Is it any wonder that religious beliefs are much higher among the poor, lower-class, uneducated, and illiterate people of the world, than among those who are highly educated? The more education you have, the less likely you are to see an imaginary God in every snowflake and hear his voice in every thunderstorm.

Religion is many different things to all people. It's one of the 3 things in life that few of us agree on; the other 2 are sex and politics. Due to our differences, we perceive what we need to exist and often develop those philosophies from our caretakers who raised us. As we become adults we may take some of our parent's ideas and combine them with our own. Many things will affect how we choose to live our life, and we all even think of ignorance on different levels. The education level we reach sometimes challenges what we used to believe so we change it to meet our present needs. Where we live, our friends, our jobs, our health, our spouses or mates are but a few of the things that influence our faith and beliefs. Ignorance is a lack of knowledge or willingness to grow and change when there's a need; some educated people are ignorant because they refuse to grow and see new things. There are mountain people with no education who are more philosophical and have more common sense than some of our scholars. I believe we are inundated with ignorance, but again, it's my own philosophy that dictates who I find to be ignorant. This is a really philosophical question and one that has no pat answer due to so many varying opinions. Read all the answers here and decide for yourself what is closer to what you believe. And keep reading and studying about freeing mankind from ignorance.

Religion to free mankind? What nonsense! Religion means a way of life, it is how you live and how you will eventually die. Some what to know why they are born, but frankly, you are here and that leaves living and dying.

You have choices, so start with the essentials: what do you want and how will you get it. For me that is the christian message, and I leave with one citation: 1 Cor 10:23-24. Emphasis on verse 24.

Religion was not born. It was created by men who wanted to spread their beliefs. It feeds upon itself and teaches nothing but obedience. It is a government that attempts to achieve world dominance. The Roman empire was the first to realize the potential of religion and quickly morphed into the Holy Roman Church, crushing every other Christian, Jewish and Muslim sect in the process. It has spread its tentacles throughout the world, influencing almost every human activity. Now that they have world dominance, they have begun embracing and claiming to represent all christians. None of which has anything to do with spreading world peace or educating the masses. Only dominance and control! It's the world's biggest con job, And, the Pope is the world's biggest con man and pimp.

Religion will not set man free. Only the blood of Jesus Christ will set man free. Free being that if you believe and receive Jesus as your Lord and Savior. Confessing it with your mouth, you will be saved. The Word(Bible) will set you free from ignorance. It used to be that the Jewish religious leaders only had the word of God or knew how to serve him but thanks to Christ anyone can be saved and know the word of God. Religion is of man and very broad, as you know there are many. If Jesus Christ isn't in them then they are of no effect. Jesus is the more to life that you seek. If we receive him we will have life everlasting. Life is a journey it is not easy nor perfect. Jesus is the Key to what you seek read more about him in the new testaments of the Bible. You will receive all your answers there in his gospels. Try faith and give it a try1

God bless!

Religion was not born to free mankind from ignorance. Religion has no grand purpose. It's just a parasite that spreads itself, taking advantage of weaknesses in its host, and spreading by any means at its disposal.

not exactly. you are looking at religion in a different way than it is supposed to be. religion helps understand life, yes. but it teaches us ABOUT ignorance. religion gives us freedom if we truly understand what it teaches us. "life is like a sonnet" you can do whatever you want but you must go in between the boundaries, or laws. religion has laws, it gives us freedom. without laws or religion this world would become a big garbage can full of unruly and uneducated people.

Jesus was born and died and rose again for us. To free us from bondage. Not religion. There are all sorts of religions in the world. Only Jesus saves. Call on Him and ask Him to save you.
