By 'sincere', I mean 'curious about the answer and wanting to learn' as opposed to 'launching into a tirade'. Can anyone find a single question posted here about evolution by somebody who actually wanted to learn about evolution?

And how many people will answer me by telling me that evolution is wrong or right (I didn't ask that)? How many people will give me lengthy cut-and-paste quotes?

Sincere question about evolution does not belong to this section. It would be miss-categorised.

Yes, some people, such as Contemplative Chanteuse, do indeed ask sincere questions. It seems however that the overwhelmingly majority asks a question in favor of evolution to ridicule creationists or asks a question in favor of creationism to ridicule evolutionists. There have been too many tirades and loaded questions and not enough actual questions.

Why would you expect to find a science question in the religious category? As a religious person, I'm primarily concerned with the moral conclusions that people (even Darwin) arrive at, as the result of his hypothesis that men must compete for space and food. Namely; Survival of the Fittest. When you state that survival justifies a man's actions, you have made a moral statement. And that my friend, is the type of questions that are appropriate in this category. Not; 'how many generations does it take to alter the color of a bugs eye?' Notice that I haven't stated my position on this issue.

So, I'll ask a you a religous question, in a religous category (which you have failed to do); Does the ends (survival), justify the means (war)? Or are we justified by our faith (no man has greater love, than he who lays his life down for another). You can email me your answer.

Evolution is a theory. There is a lot of scientific data that indicates that it is true. "Christians" however believe in creationism and try to distort the scientific method which argues that until something is proven beyond doubt, it is considered a theory. They argue that because the creation is in the bible, it is fact. So they are working with double standards.

Yes there have been valid questions but they are usually the subject of ridicule

I don't recall seeing any sincere questions regarding either evolution or creation.

That's right, I said "creation" too.

The reason, IMHO, is simple. People who accept evolution have reason to do so, and people who accept creation have motive to do so. People who accept evolution do so on the basis of reason. People who accept creation do so on the basis of faith.

None of this is surprising.

The real questions that should be asked, are whether or not faith is a valid means of arriving at positions, and whether or not reason is a valid means of arriving at positions.

LOL... I understand the question and the point it is trying to make...I think this is true of most of the questions in the religious section not just the ones about evolution...and also by atheists too!!!!

I doubt this question was made by a curious mind ..but rather one who wanted to prove a point!!!!! Ed :-))))

Nope, you won't find much about the process of evolution in this category. Further, if you are curious about it, read some magazines-- Discovery, Scientific American, National Geographic, and google the term -- lots of stuff.

I tried, and then I posted in biology. I think in trying not to be offensive in asking. I actually managed to offend some, but I got some good answers anyway. I was up front about not looking to change, but wanting to understand the others' way of thinking.
