try using an equalizer. or plug turntable rca`s into say cd ,video,tape jacks.

I guess you are talking about an older turntable, which need more amplification on the input. So if you put it any input the audio level is too weak. Short of an exterior preamp I would suggest a newer turntable.

i know that you will definitely need a pre-amp, as long as you have an auxilary input you arent using, you can add a preamp to the receiver, i believe crutchfield still sells them, they arent expensive, you will be able to use your current receiver, and turntable, just look up crutchfield on the web, place an order and enjoy your records, i been collecting records for years, and still enjoy listening, i know there are pre-amps on the market, fairly cheap, go to www.crutchfield.com and type in keyword.... preamp. i saw one there for 39.99. now thats cheaper then buying a new receiver.

either a newer turn table or preamp is the only way to do it adding an eq will be much more hassle then a preamp besides a preamp only runs 20 to 40 dollars anyway

no, you will need a pre-amp for it, or buy a reciver with a phono input.
