Everytime you are bored, go for a quick run. The jolt of excercise will up your metabolism and take your mind off of eating. Drink LOTS of water when you wanna eat out of boredom. Paint your finger/toenails, the wet polish will deter you from digging in some crackers or whatever else plus it takes at least 1/2 hour to do your nails and by the time you are done, you will probably be past your cravings.
As far as gaining muscle, eat egg white omelets...you can throw some green pepper/onion in for flavor. Stay off processed sugar. Drink fat free milk or soy milk at least twice a day. Do some resistance excercise such as pilates.
Keep up the good work and before you know it, you'll look in the mirror and just feel/look different. It will happen soon, give it a couple of weeks!

I had the same problem. I am a stay at home mom and while the kids are not outside and playing in their room and I had my time I would watch T.V. and eat. I am not fat but I could be skinnier. Anyway. I got tired of feeling bad about myself and decide to eat 3 meals a day and absolutely nothing else. I can see that it is working. I have stuck too it and and not hungry unless I eat dinner really early and stay up late. It's O.K. to cheat every now and then like once a week or so, but don't give up and gorge because you already messed up. Just have that snack you crave. Believe in yourself and be strong. After a while your stomach shrinks and you get full faster and stay full longer. Keep yourself busy. If not on the computer. Then at work or playing with the kids or pets or go for a walk. Shop or take up a hobby to keep your hands occupied. Good luck.

Every town has something to do. I do not know a town without a recreation center. Sign up for some kind of sport. I practice soccer Wednesday to Friday from 6:30 to 8:00. I wake up every morning at 5:30 to run and have a snack once in a while. You shoul run. Take and MP3 player or a CD player to make it less dull.

All you need is self control. It's not as if some foreign being controls your body and forces you to eat, YOU're the one that decides to eat just because you're bored so, instead of going to the kitchen, go read a book or something instead. You run your body, don't just go into the kitchen and start munching. Learn self control!

Have healthy snacks on hand for those bored moments. You can eat as many celery sticks or carrot sticks as you want. Salad without dressing is fine. Those Quaker Oats corn cakes are good. Popsicles are OK, too.

Pick up a hobby. Since you eat when you are bored, even video games or something idle might be an option as at least you won't be consuming calories.

I love to ride 4 wheelers when I can.
It is a great hobby and is a serious workout if you ride them in rough terrain.
If that is not a option for you, then you might want to use weights to tone muscles.
A good regimen of that combined with running should do it.

Find something to do....Read...exercise more...do something that will prevent you from eating when you are bored! Travel outside of town if necessary to find something to do. Find someone to chat with. Rent a movie. There has got to be something to do that will prevent you from eating when you are bored.

When you're bored, instead of eating, work out more and do weight training. You can use weights while during cardio. Have you tried yoga or pilates?
