I'd recommend getting your cat to the vet. It could be quite a number of things. An open sore anywhere on a cat could create further issues. This may sound nasty, but I had an outdoor cat that just had a scratch and a fly laid an egg in the scratch and we didn't even notice anything until we saw the maggot. As maggots only eat dead flesh, the cat was okay after we took it to the vet, but it's still not very

Being that it is summer time, it's probably a hot spot. If your cat is itching it a lot, then the area needs to be shaved by the vet and the vet can give you topical anti-itch/anti-fungal medicine as well as possibly an anti-biotic. Make sure your cat is on an active anti-flea and tick treatment.

It's hard to tell with the little information you give. It could be an insect bite, a bite from another cat or animal, worms, an abscess. If it is serious (bleeding or oozing), a vet check might be appropriate.

You might want to get a vet to see it. But cats sometimes scratch so if they scratch their neck then that could be the reason. But if your really concerned go see the vet!

Could be an abscess, a reaction from an allergy, or a cancer from a vaccine. Best to see a vet.

is it puffy?
it could be a cyst..my cat had one, it kept growing..it was infected because he liked to hang outside all the time and germs got to it.
i had to pop it on day and all this orange colored stuff came out..and he was about 5lbs lighter after that.
i think if he could talk, he'd be thanking me.
