Throw a sheet over his cage, and if that doesn't help, try getting him some more,or different bird toys.Often times, a bird will be obnoxious because they are bored.

all bird species chatter and sqawk especially in morning. Keeping birds will intel some noise, and if the species you have chatters all day then casting the cage with a cover all day would not be an answer, if its just during the night or into morning time thats an option. . When you step outside you hear the birds, its what they do calling out to flock members and interacting, so changing the nature of your bird is not an option, only changing yourself to tolerate the "interaction" or finding a new home for the bird.

I am a bird person, I have kept all kinds of birds since 1992, if your bird is making a lot of noise there are many reasons; the most likely ones are:
its trying to tell you it needs something from you, fresh food, clean water, attention, some peace & quiet, sleep... those are the main reasons birds get noisy.
I wish you had said what kind of bird it is, whether its a parakeet or a tiel as both of them can be pretty noisy. ALL birds NEED darkness, and quiet after the sun goes down; a healthy bird gets 10 to 12 hours of uninterrupted sleep (overnight) every day. Any less and your bird gets more and more upset. Sleep in a darkened room in a quiet envrionment is manditory.
Food; if it is not being provided with fresh greens, fresh whole grain bread, small amounts of fruit, cereals and even meat. No bacon, pork or deep fried foods but stuff like a little meatloaf, meat ball or even LEAN ground beef boiled at least 15 minutes and poured over cooked brown rice with fresh frozen *thawed* peas is a great dinner, however it may take a few times to learn its meant to be eaten... birds are suspicious of new things, it takes time for them to adjust so be patient!
The cage is too small, there are not enough toys, or there are too many toys... its too noisy around the bird... or you are not paying attention to it... birds DO recognize their family members and a great many of them get very lonely if they are alone and you dont spend one on one time with them.
There are four large birds in my home; I am home all day long; I let them out of the cage before I make my morning coffee and they are free from the cage all day long. I cook breakfast and share it with them; i make dinner and we all eat the same thing; I have become a very healthy eater and my birds are very healthy too. I have one Ruby macaw and an Umbrella cockatoo, and two hybrid Toos; they get along famously, each one recognizes the others and the Macaw rules. IF the toos get too loud she yells SHUT-UP at them and they DO.
If you need more help i have a 360 email addy on yahoo, contact me and I'll try to help you with your bird... please tell me what kind it is...

Give the bird more things to do with it,s time, toys, treats, and some times they like soft classical music. If your family is loud the bird will just try to keep us with the noise. Sometimes it's because they want to be with you, or want your attention. Some bird are also just a lot noisier than others depending on the species. A companion for it may help, but remember two birds = three times the noise. I just gently cover their cage with a dark sheet when they get to out of hand. Then I reward them with love and attention when they are quite.

Your bird wants attention. If you yell at your bird for being noisy, or shower him with treats you are rewarding his vocalizations. When your bird does this say nothing and walk out of the room. Come back when he is quiet and praise him and he will learn another behavior. Making any response is going to encourage him. And he will absolutely love it if you rant and rave. Also, be sure that your bird is getting 12 hours of sleep. Yes, they need more sleep than people. Birds are very sensitive to light, it signals them when to breed. Getting too much light can set a bird on a sort of 'high', so provide him a very dark and quiet place to rest undisturbed while you stay up late.

Put a thick blanket over his cage to make it dark inside. Birds are normally quiet at night. This is the only thing that I know works. Good Luck! Birds are a lot of fun, but hard to reason with!

I heard these two things:
1) If you put a blanket or something over the cage, the bird will think it's nighttime and go to sleep.
2) If you talk to the bird in a low, quiet, and excited voice, the bird will mimic you and talk softer.
Good luck.
