NO Bi-Polar isn't curable. I wish it was.... LOL

Sure if you like riding the roller coaster. The high highs & low lows. The constant MOOD SWINGS too!

Rememeber with having BiPolar YOU should be prescribed BOTH an Antidepressant PLUS a Mood Stabilizer.

Mood Stabilizers are: Lithium, Depakote, Neurontin & Tegritol.

I don't know how many answerers have Bi-Polar. I was diagnosed as Bi-Polar at age 13. It is definitely not curable and it is only treatable with medicine in 60% of cases. Taking an anti-depressant with a mood stablizer is counterproductive. Anti-depressants cause manic psychosis in Bi-Polar individuals. I have taken every medicine for the illness that was available before 2001. I now take Marinol and Klonopin. They are the only drugs I have taken that stabilize my mood without sending me into a severe depression.

Bipolar is a type of depression where a person has periods of highs and extreme lows. Their behavior is very erratic and sometimes dangerous. They have poor decision making and may think their behavior is normal. Bipolar disorder is not curable and you must take medication for it. By all means, check out the link above. It could be the most important thing you do for yourself.

Bipolar disorder is a chemical imbalance that causes mood swings. The use and dose of medication depends on the severity (Bipolar I or II and differing types of disorder) altho most people require medication for life. Some people are able to learn to recognize when symptoms are becoming more severe and to seek help. It is important to work with a psychiatrist and monitor medication closely to watch for improvement and side effects. Having a good support system is also important.

Currently western medicine treats Bipolar Disorder with medication. This is the most common treatment for this condition. However a wholistic approach in both assessment and treatment would seem to be the best approach for this condition.

Alternative Healing Therapies are an important and effective treatment in improving many of the symptoms of Bipolar Disorder. Multimodal interventions including Energetic Therapy, Somatic Psychotherapy, a balanced lifestyle, diet and nutrition, education, meditation, yoga and breathwork are some of the ways to create a wholistic approach to healing Bipolar Disorder.

Interventions including a diet (low allergenic, gluten-free, dairy free) nutritional supplements (Vit B, magnesium, essential fatty acids) and others are also important and necessary to create balance within a system. Omega-3 fatty acids are found in fish oil and certain plants. They're being studied as a possible mood stabilizer for people with bipolar depression. Some studies have suggested that people with depression have decreased amounts of an active ingredient found in omega-3 fatty acids

Introducing Energy Therapy and working with the person’s electro magnetic energetic field as in Neural Transmission Repatterning (NTR) is one of the modalities successful in treating many of the symptoms of Bipolar Disorder. A Treatment such as NTR affects the cellular biology of the body and brain to reorganize, integrate, regenerate and repattern the neural pathways to improve and balance the electrical transmission and circuitry of the entire brain and body improving many of the symptoms of Bipolar Disorder.

If someone is bi-polar they have a deficiency of lithium in their chemical make-up. Lithium is a naturally found mineral salt and is very cheap. It is what was used before prozac and more drastci mood-altering drugs were invented. It probably would be the most 'natural' way to restore balance, the least expensive too!

No, it's not curable, but the symptoms are treatable with meds. (It's like Type I diabetes: There is no cure but it's treatable with insulin shots. Similarly, the bi-polar brain has a chemical imbalance--one that can be treated with drugs. But the imbalance itself is never really "cured.")

please get help, it is hell to live with people that are bipolar when the moods kick in...it is not fair to the sane.
You got to do what it takes to get the balance you need so you don't drive everyone else bonkers. Too much stress on the rest.

1. No
2. Possibly but you really need to be evaluated by a doctor.
Please keep in mind that medication is not a punishment. It's available to make your life more functional, easier, and happier.
