Example: If I knowing refuse to take a medicine that would cure my life threatening illness. Knowing that it is 100 percent effective and without it I will die. Am I commiting suicide?

I thought so. I really only asked this question to catch you people. If I would be commiting suicide then Jesus comited suicide, which would mean that he commited an unforgivable sin. Which would mean that he is in hell. Get out of this one.

That is a decision between you and the Lord. As a Christian I do not want to be put on life saving devices and my life prolonged, I do not consider that allowing myself to die by my own hand - my body has already given itself over to the stages of death and would not live.

My husband had cancer 27 years ago - it was two years of chemo the first time and five years later it was 17 months of cobalt - he has asked me should cancer ever return would I ask it of him to pursue treatments again or let him enjoy what time we might have together - I do not feel it is suicide on his part to let him enjoy what time we would have together without going through chemo again.

But it was a prayerful decision we made together. I currently have been told I'm dying with metallic poisoning, however the only solutions are far more damaging to my well-being than the poison - so, we chose after much prayer to usurp the medical professions method and use a naturopathic method, which allows me to rely on God's unction in my life each day as to how much I can tolerate if any at all. It also allows me to avoid the very things that are poisoning my body to begin with.

Only if I choose to forego relying on God's wisdom for my health and well-being am I then committing suicide.

It's a murky question for me. Do you want to die? Is it your intent to die or is it your intent to hope for a miracle?

I believe there's a difference in "signing your own death warrant" and "committing suicide." The treatment being effective in keeping you alive doesn't given any information on the quality of life you'd have after taking it.

In some instances, I could see it as "letting go" and letting nature take its course. In other instance, I could see it as suicide, though.

You are choosing to die, so that is equivalent to committing suicide. Just like if you decided not to eat or drink any water and allowed yourself to die as a result. You would be engaging in an action that you knew would result in your death so that is committing suicide.

Death is not important in itself. The destination after death is Important..
If you know you are going to die in say a month, what is your Duty ? This is the discussion mater of Srimad Bhagavatam. The Great King was going to die in 7 days. He came to know about it and he enquired about his duty before Death.

The Bhagavad-Gita says that every day lived without Service to God is like Dying each day..

Here is another thought ..What if you are going to Live for a thousand Years and simply waste all the years, and some one is going to live for few years and spend all the years in serving God? The Example is of Tree.. It lives for so many years but what is the use? Man lives for may be now 70- 80 yrs, but if he can use it to engage in service of God, his destination after Death is Kingdom of God. And destination of Tree after death is a moving animal body...
So If that Medicine helps you to lower your suffering(of Disease) or Cure you completely so that you can Practice more Service to God, then Take that Medicine... but if that medicine causes forgetfulness of God then don’t take it... There have been many stories of Great sages who have taken Death as an opportunity to surrender even more to God..

But even if you are not Diseased and Very Healthy but simply waste your days in useless activities, then its Like Committing Suicide every Day ...

Jesus Death does not Count as Suicide even though he had full power to counter that. Jesus each day was for Glorification of God, and even his Death was to pull every one near to God.. Such Living is Very Glorious, Such Death is even more Glorious ...

If you are dying of natural causes and do not allow to prolong your illness I would say no you are not committing suicide. In religious terms you are not allowing man to interfere with the will of god.

I say no. Maybe you don't want to put up with the miserable side effects and die a peaceful death. There is nothing wrong with that. At least you know how and about when you'll go and get to say goodbye to your family and friends. You are in my prayers. God bless you.

Well i thought suicide was defined by TAKING your own life. Really you wouldn't be committing suicide coz your body already made you sick enough TO die.

NO. WHETHER OR NOT YOU TAKE THE MEDICATION OR TREATMENT OR SURGERY OR WHATEVER.... EVEN IF YOU TRIED TO COMMIT SUICIDE... YOU WON'T DIE UNLESS OUR CREATOR HAS CHOSEN THAT IT IS YOUR TIME TO LEAVE FROM HERE. IF A PERSON COMMITS SUICIDE AND PASSES ON, THEN IT WAS THEIR TIME TO GO. IF A PERSON ATTEMPTS SUICIDE AND IT DOESN'T WORK, THEY COULD END UP LIKE A VEGETABLE THE REST OF THEIR LIFE. WE ALL HAVE CERTAIN LESSONS TO LEARN HERE. WE HAVE THE CHOICE TO TRY OUR BEST TO KEEP OUR BODIES IN GOOD HEALTH WHICH WILL HELP US TO GET AROUND BETTER TO ACCOMPLISH WHATEVER WE ARE HERE FOR. IF WE CHOOSE TO NEGECT OUR BODIES NEEDS FOR GOOD HEALTH, THEN WE WILL SUFFER THE CONSEQUENCES WHICH MAY MAKE IT SOMEWHAT HARDER OR MAKE OUR TIME HERE LONGER IN ORDER TO FULFILL OUR MISSION HERE.
NO ONE IS LEAVING HERE UNTIL OUR CREATOR SAYS IT IS OUR TIME TO GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
