From everything I've seen and heard on news reports, the prisoners are living in air conditioned cells, given their religious freedoms, food for them is costing 3x what the military feeds itself, open to the Red Cross and anyone else who wants to check it out.
Granted there was the incidents of the photos at the begining, but I've always thought of torture as the way all America's past and present enemies treat our POW's. Like in Japan (WW!!), Vietnam, Germany (WWII) and Radical Islam?

There is no torture at Guantanamo, pure and simple. Now assumptions are made because three of them killed themselves ( I wish they all would ) that it must be a cruel evil place. The red cross even has an office there and sees prisoners regularly. These people are killers and yet we have Americans crying over their plight.

chuckie I checked out your amnesty international (now there's a real unbiased bunch) to see if there was something specific you wished to point out. As expected there wasn't much except for amnesty internationals plan for how to get rid of guantanamo....mostly bs but I did see something of interest that I'd like everyone to note in the following paragraph:
"All US officials in the administration should desist from further undermining the presumption of innocence in relation to the Guantánamo detainees. The continued commentary on their presumed guilt applies a dangerous label to them – dangerous to the prospect for a fair trial and dangerous to the safety of any detainee who is released. This can only make the USA’s task of resolving the Guantánamo issue more difficult."

How freaking amazing for these people to mention the presumption of innocence for these animals and yet half the people in this forum, the entire liberal media, the leftist anti-war movement, and a member of congress already have seven United States Marines and one Navy Corpsman convicted of murder without a trial.

Oh lord...there are none.

Info has been given that 95% of the people they hold at Gitmo have information about terrorists, terrorist activities etc. The only reason they haven't received a trial yet is they are trying to "crack these animals" and get this info to help us fight the war on terror. Some people should read, and educate themselves before making comments. Illiteracy isn't cute or cool anymore.

If you want to have a different viewpoint on what is going on at Guantanamo, then visit Amnesty International's website:

http://www.amnestyusa.org/

Many in the upper echelons of our government don't believe that standard rules about prisoner treatment apply because we are not technically "at war". There seems to be the attitude that our security is worth torturing people for.

I don't think it happened, but if I ever get stationed at Gitmo some of the prisoners will have a very rough time, and I know many other ppl in the military think like me

No prisoners were ever tortured at Guantanamo Bay. In order to qualify as a "prisoner", you would have to be human. If you fly civillian planes into civillian buildings to take civillian lives and destroy civillian families, you are not a human... you are a vicious, bloodthirsty, animalistic beast, and no treatment could ever be too horrible.

there was never any torture. humiliation, yes, but so what. they are unlawful combatant prisoners of war, and they are not entitled to a trial. no prisoner of war has ever been given a trial. yo simply hold them until the war ends. you morons who cry about trials need to shut up until you know something about the law and history

"Face it, leftists, you have not any info that ANY prisoner at GITMO became ever mistreated." you're actual. we are in user-friendly terms going by ability of info released by ability of Bush/Cheney. "--you have been taught to hate united states of america --you have been taught to hate the yank troops --you have been taught to hate American intelligence" Who, precisely, has been coaching human beings those issues? I stay in a rustic that provides me the main freedom and hazard of everywhere on earth. Why might I hate the failings you declare I hate? "--you have not have been given adequate of a concepts to question what you're informed" curiously, we do. seem on the elections of 2006 and 2008. many citizens puzzled Bush and his cronies.
