Effexor and almost any antidepressant takes 4-12 weeks to be fully effective but you should feel some improvement by this time. Talk to your doctor if your symptoms have not improved at all or if they seem to be getting worse. Not every anti depressant works for every person and sometimes they need to try a few different medications until they find the right one for you.

Holy crappers!lol.
i was actually gonna check in on that medication a couple weeks ago, cause it's supposed to work for anxiety AND depression.
Normal kick in time is 6 to 8 weeks...so, that's just bang on. Yes, so, i'd say wait it out. You can even go to http://www.webmd.com and check out med info and stuff, you should be able to find Effexor on there no problem.
My 4 meds took about 4 and a half weeks to cut in, and i'm on 4, you're on 1. And, i think you're on the strongest dose.
Other suggestion is go to your doc and let him know =)

Talk to you Dr. I took it for 48 hours and felt the effects. I have been taking it now for a few months and think it is a great drug. A general rule of thumb is 6 weeks to peak in your system. I repeat, talk to your doctor if you don't feel it is working by now.

Typically Medications take approximately 4-6 weeks to get into your system.
You should see an improvement within that time frame.
It you don't contact your prescribing doctor and ask them why it hasn't helped you yet.

Yes. Go with your doctor's instructions. You may not feel all the effects in the beginning. I was on prozac and it took almost four months for me to see the difference.

I think it should start working within 2 weeks. If no changes have occured, you should go back to your doctor & have him re-evaluate his prescription.
