i have one. you have to let them know you are boss from the beginning, and until forever.
jan fenell's 'amicien boding' worked well for us. her methods tell us to 1) pretend to eat out of the dog's bown (you may have a cracker on the benchtop as you prepard the dog's food.
2) ignore your dog for the initial 5 minutes upon reuniting (even when you've come from a room next door.
3) when you take your pup out and she pulls on the lead, don't budge , and only start walking when she is by your side.

These and other basic obedience training are very useful. so start reading.

ALSO. one thing i find is that with a treat in hand there is nothing your beagle pup won't do. Always incorporate treats into obedience so they learn quicker.

They also want company most of the time. my pup just wants to be supervised , not necessarily be played with. if not supervised she makes a lot of mess by ripping things apart. lol

Great little dogs full of energy and fun. Just watch the food most Beagle will eat till they are too fat to walk and take to raiding garbage cans as a supplement to thier diet.

They are very curious, unfortunately you have to keep an eye on them constantly. On the other hand they are exremely cute, I would be surprised if you couldn't find good homes for them right away.

My beagle, god rest her soul, would do anything for a slice of cheese.
